I saw his batting. I only stayed up to watch his and hameeds batting ( btw hameed needs serious help ). I have no words to praise Asim’s Kamals batting. The poor guy was in so much pain that I could practically see him shouting out of pain. But he stayed there he batted for his country.
Like Ramiz Raja said, how can a guy can come and just start hitting the ball over the place ( shoaib akhtar ) and everybody knows that he was out of last inning from wrist and back injury. Ramiz said, it is team managment fault to keep such person in the team.
I agree. No matter how great of a bowler he is he should be kicked out. It will be a great lesson for new comers.
But again, Asim Kamal I salute you for your strong committment that you showed.
-Salman
One has to salute Asim Kamal. The guy is in so much pain yet he is out there playing for his country. He is not only a good player but a selfless one as well. :k:
He truly deserves this salute. Staying on the crease in such a hopeless situation is worth mentioning anyway. But doing that with all the pain he is suffering is just heroic.
A tremendously courageous knock. He should be the first one down on the team sheet after this and I think maybe he should be moved up the order to no 3 as his shot selection is a lot more thoughtful than Yaasir Hameed who is a fine player but too impetuous.
Asim can be our (Pak's) answer to Dravid if the the selector would give him more chances ..... i would like to see this chap batting on a bowling paradise e. g. WACA, Headingly etc. etc. against good seam/swing bowling
Yeah, he sure has patience, shot selection and he can deliver in pressure situations(which is rare in our team these days). I would like to see him up in the order as someone said here, upto No. 3
Kamal is one of two or three people who I have no complaints against after this series. The guy’s commendable for his courage and resolve to stay on the crease. He had an absolutely fantastic knock that showed some rational shots, however he had very minimal support. It was very much possible for him to make his century IF ONLY his partners had just kept their cool and played reasonably to support him. Our players don’t believe in teamwork really!!!!
Hats off to Kamal !! he should be up the batting order.
Asim Kamal has now become my favorite player. His dedication was unbelieveable and the bravery that he showed was incredible. The match was already lost and he could have decided to stay and not bat but he wanted to delay the inevitable and didnt want to give Indians cakewalk. Now thats something. I am onthe other hand very disappointed with Yasir Hameed, he got out playing stupid unnecessary/rackless shots in every single inning. He is no better than Afridi or Imran Nazir. I wonder what Miandad is teaching him and how long management is going to keep up with him.
i saw this guy’s entire innings, and man was he brave! after every shot he would shake his arm in pain but he did not give up and managed to score a half century with relative ease. he had no problems whatsoever against any bowler. his batting just confirmed a known fact by now, that there were no demons in the pitch and indian bowling wasnt the world’s best as it looked to be in this test match.
abdur razzaq’s injury was the best that happened to pakistan. there is no dibt in my mind that this guy shd also play in the odi’s. he is technically sound, reads the seam and swing movement well, does not get under pressure, and now he is also hitting more shots then some of his earlier innings of his career.
but coming back to this last knock, it was simply amazing. poor fella was not able to drive it i front of the wicket but he still played square drives and cut shots. and after each drive, would shake his arm, one or two times even screamed in pain and went down in anguish. i remember, when the players came back after lunch, yuvraj jokingly said to him in urdu something like*u r holding ur hand after every ball although u r hitting shots on sides of the wicket *. n all this with his father hospitalized and having dialysis regularly. how can he even concentrate on playing?? this guy really has a great desire to play for pakistan.
Asim Kamal is the most courageous batsman I have seen play for Pakistan since Salim Yousif. Remember 1988 series vs West Indies in West Indies when he came out to face Marshall and company with a broken nose and had a bandage all over it, he looked like a dakoo batting.. lol..
