I Salute Asim Kamal... What a cricketer.....

and I cant forget Salim Malik in 1986 when he came to bat vs west indies with a broken arm and batted with just 1 hand. Wasim Akram scored 66 and hit Marshal for numerous sixes and added quite a few runs with Salim Malik to add lead. West Indies were bowled out for 53 trying to chase 230 odd runs.

The Game Responds:

*There was no need for him to take all that pain(Pakistan were out of the game), yet he showed the guts to stay at the wicket. That performance alone should cement his place in the Test side. People, That Is All.*

well he does know how to play in pressure. and he proved it once again, and he can bat long time with tail enders. our upper calss batsmen should take some advice from him. he should be promoted up the order. Hameed shold be sent out or if he is necessary for the team, then he shold be moved down..
Hameeed wasted the whole series. :(

he did great job i watch his hole batting he is brave person. pakistan should learn something from him.

i think he should play in oneday also he can perform in one day

I would like it if he also bowls a little bit tooo as Pakistan really need part time bowlers, they surely lack in this part tooo .... we only had 4 genuine bowlers, and they only bowl most of the time, thou Imran Farhat did get the bowl to turn, but what if he also works on it more in the nets n it would really become handy .... Pakistan never has more than 5 bowlers in the playing 11 ..... it always helps the front line bowlers, they kinda get the rest ....... and always makes a doubt in the batting side ....... so i guess in cricket nowadys a batsman should also work on hs bowling a little bit!!!!!

From Cricinfo:

Asim Kamal

A rare beacon of hope in an ocean of despair, Kamal reaffirmed the excellent impressions he had left on his debut against South Africa last year. His two fifties were different in character, but both were born of a simple technique, dogged determination, and composure. His 73 at Lahore was a lower-order gem in execution, and in the context of the game it was a match-winner. At Rawalpindi, he braved a heavily bruised elbow and painkilling injections on the pitch to blast an unbeaten 60 – the bravest Pakistan knock since the days of a one-armed Salim Malik and the gutsy keeper Salim Yousuf. He will become a permanent fixture in this side.

hopefully now he will at least part of your test team..
he needs to be tested on foreign fast pitches though, but his technique seems to be simple which would enable him to play on those pitches as well.

A great player…should have been in the team a long timw ago :jhanda:

Should PCB change the batting lineup?
Should Asim Kamal play 3 down?

hell yes!

Well, Shoaib Akhtar is going to ban for little while….good decision by PCB. Shoaib Akhtar needs to be taught a lesson; he is very careless and self-centered. Cricket is a team sports not individual. In order to win test & Odi player must sacrifice.

I don't see Imran Farhat coming back either, he perform pathetically throughout the whole Pakistan – India series; he is a mediocre player and doesn’t deserve to be in team when we have players who can perform under pressure.
Taufeeq is another player who disappointed me, he must improve his cricket otherwise he can be replaced by Imran Nazir or Shadab Kabir.

Few Questions...........

What about Mohd Hafeez & Shadab Kabir? Do think Shadab & Hafeez deserve another chance? Can Hafeez have a chance to come back and play as spinner? Pakistan should never try him as a opener....
He is not playing as opener in domestic cricket; I think he is playing 4th down.

Should Yasir Hameed play as opener in Test & ODI? Should Asim Kamal play as 3rd down on both Test & Odi?

Should Kamran Akmal be moved up in batting line on test matches.

Personally I don't think we should move Asim Kamal up in the order. Why mess with him, when he worked so brilliantly in our middle order and strengthed the tail. If there is one innings that defines a player, Asim played it in Pindi. He is in for the long haul.

Inzi has only one 1 year left, he will not be able to continue for long, we must find someone for middle order, Youhanna is going through a bad patch & PCB is might bring Younis Khan back. Misab can fill the middle order slot but he is also reaching 30, so I don't know how long he can play in International cricket.

What about moving Kamran up in order in Test Matches, he will only improve if he is given proper chance, he played as opener in few ODI, he knows how to bat properly he just needs to be guided & trained to play in middle order.

I don't know about that. Batsmen are typically able to last much longer. Inzi burst into the international scene in 1992 at a relatively young age. He can surely play longer than 13 years.

Barring the 2003 Cup, Inzi's been very, very consistent in the last 2-3 years since he's been placed in a leadership role. I don't see why he needs to leave in a year especially since our batting resources are very limited anyway. Inzi should play at least till the 2007 WC. And hopefully in the meanwhile, we'll find a couple of mature batsmen to support him and Youhana.
