I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

ISI aiding Taliban, alleges Nato -DAWN - Top Stories; August 12, 2008

Much more changing scenarios. Will it put an end to I.S.I activities in Afghanistan. This time iot has come from none other than NATO.

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

Our national interest comes first. Remember two things since Sept 11th. International law means absolutely nothing. Second might makes right. Pakistan should do whatever is in our national and strategic interest.

Read this weeks Economist for an excellent article on the ISI, Pakistan's government and why we can get away with what we want.

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

You can't rely on a belief that each time you can get away with your mistakes.

Especially in International arena.old glories are fast fading away.Ofcourse I.S.I's activities are being checked thoroughly now.I.S.I could escape a number of times because it played a vital role in internal politics and regional developments, and it's co-ordination was sought to null Taliban .But it has to be careful when doing big mistakes.

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

Its not a belief. What would prefer a rogue ISI or an ISI which you can speak with? Also notice that since all this talk of the ISI being involved, US actions across our border has stopped. Seems the americans are learning.

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

Nope.I.S.I is being checked.U.S action across the border has always been for Taliban and it's hiding leaders.U.S simply can't carry out attacks just like that but to carry out an across the border strike, they need to have sufficint intelligence output. They do not care I.S.I in this. For
activities across the border,C.I.A and allied forces have got enough people.

One can even assume that I.S.I has been pushed back to it's hole after India and Afghanistan said I.S.I was behind the Kabul embassy attack.

I think it is clear now that Pakistan has a policy of supporting Afghan Taliban as a way to counter the Karzai government in Kabul. Pakistan considers the Karazai government hostile to Pakistan with its refusal to recognize the Durand line as the border and its support to Baluch seperatists. Pakistan has a different policy for AlQaeda and have no problem going after AlQaeda. The Pakistani Taliban are playing in the hands of AlQaeda and attacking Pakistani government.

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

If we look back, what fruit did this ISI of ours bear? We've pretty much given up on Kashmir in the last 5-6 years. The ISI's militancy and support to Taliban didnt help either, infact it just came back to haunt us in the worst way ever. Its only brought a bad name whenever it interfered in Indias daily operations. Its created parallel govts and toppled the democratic process.

What purpose did the ISI serve?

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

If you put patriotic emotional jingoism aside, ISI has been a disaster for Pakistan. It has been for long, an out of control entty with unlimited funds and zero accountability. In the guise of covert action it has screwed Pk up, though in that department it trails the religious establishment.

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

sigh If the ISI has been such a disaster for Pakistan, why are the US, India and the current puppet regime in Afghanistan out to dismantle it completely? I bet its because they are truly looking out of Pakistan's best interests.

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

^ Apprently, its not only been a disaster for us, but its been a disaster for them as well.

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

surely its disaster for their goals, and why should ISI only look for US or Indian goals and objectives.

Pakistan without ISI will be left without anything in hand.

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

^Apart from India and Afghanistan,ISI doesnot have any other objective.

ISI objective is to monitor the borders, activities of "enemies" along the border, any incursion and infiltration etc etc etc.

Al Qaeda and Taleban were bad for Pakistan also, not just USA and India.

Because ISI hasn't always undertood what is in PK's interet correctly. By taking on uncontrolled external activities they have put PK repeatedly in jeopardy.$

A lot of it also seem to be persopnality whims within ISI.

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

ISI has not understood Pakistan's interests, but some schmuck sitting in the west does eh?

This is called `joke'.

I'm talking about "objective" (whats on paper), do you think RAW's objective is to destroy/interfere in neighboring countries?

Re: I.S.I aiding Taliban,says NATO

Intellegince agencies, their objective and modus ope***** these are out of domain of our discussion at times.

RAW has a larger perspective. We have some stuffs' with TAIWAN to countersomebody' in South China sea,RAW has it's interests in South East Asia, ofcourse Afghanistan and its neighbours, the legendary Shah Masood was it's close friend(this gave RAW enogh influence in Northern Alliance and in their push to Kabul in 2001,ofcorse RAW had helped L.T.T.E but after 1991 it stopped and post 1995 saw many L.T.T.E leaders going to `final resting peace state'..............One example is.Kittu(Mr.SadaShivam Krishnakumar).

The Nepal and Bangladesh............ofcourse Mynamar................ the way RAW dealt with K.LF-Karein Liberation Front..........

Middle east is another example.......

So RAW has got a multi dimensional front.
