Interesting read. So is mr.paracha naming tv/media as the root of all evil or is he having a tongue-in-cheek go at the clueless parenting? The dad blames his son's radical ideas and cluelessness to television, how convenient. Thats exactly whats wrong with us, forever pointing fingers and never owning up to our own mistakes and not looking in our own homes to find clues of what went wrong in the first place. how about paying attention to who your children are hanging out with, where they are spending their days, how about a little conversation now n then to get a clue?
Propaganda exists in every society, since it generally targets and appeals to emotions instead of intellect, it flourishes more in places where there is limited access to education and guidance. Lets take a little personal responsibility, instead of complaining, exposure to these radicals is not the problem, its always been around and it always will be, its about how you handle it. lets be open to dialogue, if not tv, there will be print media, books, leaflets, movies, radio, posters, etc etc. The best weapon against this is personal knowledge and awareness so they are addressed openly, media freedom in Pakistan is a big step in the right direction to address this because the abuses of this freedom far outweigh the potential, it gives joe public an outlet, sure beats the decades of media blackout, with one existing state run channel that was the biggest propaganda machine for the sitting government.
You know what in every child's life there is a time when he or she started saying, " My teacher told me this, My teacher says that." they usually think my teacher has more information then my mother or father.( I ma talking about Kindergartners:D) In our and other societies priests also have importance and today's world media! we can not just ignore influence of media on our children and adults as well.
problem is here our youth get inspired by others and start saying their own family is wrong. Now these priests will say to these youngsters that Allah ka hukam afzal waldain agar Allah ky khilaf ja rahy hain tu in ko chor do" They ar ebelieving them and will started criticizing their own parents it's reality.
Only when it comes to husband and wife relations these priests ask them to obey their parents other wise every thing priest is saying is from God and they have to obey the God's orders, not parents:)
You can not say it's just propaganda there is some truth behind this beleive me or not.
Relagion is the best tool to control oneself and in our country every one is using it. Every party do have their own religious *bhonpos * now:D
