our TV may not promote extremism but it does confuse people, it spreads misifnromation..hey we can say fox news, bbc, cnn spread misinformation, why is it so hard to then accept that television does it as well. on this very site ppl including some in this thread called Geo mouthpiece of one group or Aaj mouthpiece of another. thereby saying that media infact is biased, has allegiances and would thus spread propoganda and not just information.
The issue is that television is just half the story, some of this stuff is rooted into fallacies spread into the culture whether its prejudiced caricatures of jews and hindus that are propogated in books and magazines, or the moronic tarbiyat which makes ppl go break Cds as if that is some islamic duty.
Paracha may only be partially right in pointing these sort of issues to TV. But the fact is that these issues exist, thatw hy you see idiots burn down KFC or go attack cars with sticks on new years eve which was something I have personally observed.
