There is a recent trend where Muslims feel low when they are referred as terrorists due to action of small group. Even sometimes I feel that there are Muslims who are not happy to be identified as Muslims, because this makes them connected to an old and outdated ideology (in their perception).
So, being Muslim, is there anything about your religion, your faith, your history, etc that makes you feel proud?
Of breath i take and every heartbeat I am broud to be a Muslim, Alhamdoe Lillah.
If i look whats happening in the world i am not proud to be a human being because we
as a human being have failled misserably because we have failled Allah.
Terrorism may be a results of actions of small groups but what about all those burning protests that kill hundreds in the name of blasphemy? What about honor killings that Muslims are commonly known for? Even children are not safe from mullah brigade in countries like Pakistan. What about the hate spewing Muslim clerics that are so common in Muslim world and widely followed by people? In countries like UK, Muslims are leading in crime and Government benefits fraud. In my conversations with westerners I have found that Muslims are seen as corrupt people who don’t believe in humanity and man made laws, all they care about is God’s law and that they think is all about hatred for people and killing.
I never identify myself as a Muslim unless it is imperative to do so, and when I do it I find nothing to be proud of.
The positives of Islam are unity (Namaaz & Umra/Hajj are good examples), compassion for the poor (Roza, Zakaat, Fitrana and other forms of charity), equality and peace. Now we should think recently what kind of traits of our religion we are showing to the world.
I am deeply concerned about being Muslim and not living up to the requirements - one of which is to cast off the clothes of pride - There is no room for pride in my heart for my religion lest through that state of inflating my ego - I forget being in awe of Him and start to focus on myself … His Pleasure is when I am not proud not even for my religion … Relieved, grateful, honoured, yes … but the greatness of man is to be like the “man who undertook a bloodless conquer with his head held low” (SAW).
Exactly, why this apology type attitude has crept in all Muslims. Don’t we find anything positive about Islam and Muslims. Seems that there are two groups in Muslims. One, who is maligning its name by doing stupidest things on the earth (they are not the only one. Every nation, every religion got its share more or less in such activities). Then there is other group, who is ready to take all the malaamat for wrong doings of first group and become apologetic and want to hide its identity under some newly coined terms. This group is equally responsible for bad name to the religion for not promoting positive image and telling the world that the theories like ‘all Muslims are not terrorist, but all terrorists are Muslims’ are not true and there are good Muslims (majority of them).
Do you think world had ever acknowledged positive side of Islam and Muslims? World is expert in stereotyping Muslims based on a minority (likes of Taliban, etc) and this is not a recent phenomenon. The liberal west which has glamorized Knights from Crusade era still fighting their wars by naming them Crusades, but they have made Muslims to be apologetic to the extent that we are ashamed to own people like Ayyubi.
