an atheist friend of mine and my boss asked me this question recently after i recovered from my injury i said alhumdullilah(thank god) i am feeling really better so he asked me why do we thank god? its the doctors that gave you medicines and made you better, its your mind and reflexes which removed you from the front of the car and god is not even here and didnt help you so why are you thanking god?
i know why i as a muslim thank god but i cannot explain it to him, so if you guys can help me give an appropriate answer to him, it would be appreciated.
tell him that if Allah didn't want to save you no reflexes of yours could've saved you, no medicine from doctors could have cured you. The reason you thank Allah is that you believe that He is the one who controls your life and He gave you a gift..
wouldn't your boss thank someone who gives him a gift?
well ansoon i could tel him this but the thing is he wants to convert to islam but he is very curious, he keeps asking me alot of questions and i gave some similar reply to him but he wanted more. thats why i opened this thread.

Ask him to come to this forum and we will immunise him against religion.
Doctor's only do what they think fit, the same method can save some people and not save others. People are not always as fortunate as some others. We attribute that fortune to the Power of Allah (SWT) rather than a lifeless thing called CHANCE.
The doctor's deserve to be given blessings too, but first and foremost Allah (SWT) is praised for the good fate. Also Allah (SWT) is praised when we are in harship because we should be patient and think of such things as tests in all conditions Allah (SWT) must be praised, this doed not nullify the good work of the doctor.
Muslims understand that we intend to do anything it only happens if Allah Wills it so. In the case of the doctor working to cure he can only do it if God Wills it so, for the medicine or procedure to be effective it will only work if God Wills it so and so on.
