hi, basically the most interesting thing happened i was offered a leading role in a play. I have always been liberal in trying new things. I was cool with the whole acting scenario but then i read the script. It was about a boy and girl who are babysitting and lose a child in the process question there relationship and so on. The script is structured so i will have to make out with the girl and do things of that nature. I am just wondering what is your opinion how is the cultural and religous ramifications supposed to outway the former.

The point is that you are making out with a woman you are not married to, even though its just a role requirement. Religion wise it is a great sin and its being an act doesn't lessen the gravity of this sin.

You can try your luck in the religion forum but religiously speaking acting is not a very favourable profession. But the culturally the lines are gray, it depends on your social circle.

See my theory is that if i become stuck in any dogma then religion is worthless. because religion states you have to be free of others opinions and so on. Basically, its sketch my mom is totally cool with it my dad has his reservations. This is were the whole selective islam bit comes in. I am not sure.
anyhow if they paid me then i would consider but for now I am saying no because of the shadiness and i dont really like the idea of making out on stage.

Hm..its hard to find a role in the acting field abroad that doesn’t involve some sexual intimacy.
I would avoid it. However, acting itself is not a bad thing. I don’t think there’s anything unIslamic about it.
But a kiss is a kiss, and lots of people kiss on screen, and end up feeling something from it. So how is that not acting?
At any rate, on your drama CV you might want to put a condition in there that says that you wont take any roles that require any sexual intimacy, even kissing. If it makes you feel uncomfortable. If you don’t think there’s anything Islamically wrong with it, then do what you want to do…because you’re going to do it anyway no matter what anyone says and you’ll deal with the consequences no matter what anyone says.

See my question was coming down to what beliefs are more important, basically cultural versus religous. Everywhere i go i see irony and paradox that you feel helppless with notion of failed conceptualization of a religion like islam.

Safehands the question should be directed at yourself, what is more important to you? religious beliefs or cultural beliefs? Just because you may gain social acquittal for a religiously sinful act you would go ahead with it anyway? You'd be better off prioritizing first and then making decisions based upon it.

Is there a way to fake the making out? There are all sorts of acting techniques that can be used, if the director and the rest of the cast are willing to compromise.
