I need some good excuses

It would probably look better with half sleeves but I wear hijab and my mehndi will be mixed so I asked for full sleeves, but not this long. I wont be able to wear churiyaan that they got me.

Maybe that could work. But the problem is I don't know anyone who can sew. Maybe I can find a desi lady around me who can do it. But what kind of laces and gota? My wedding is about month and a half away.

Re: I need some good excuses

I really don't want to offend them...they're really sweet. I haven't even told my hubby about it.

Although I might. I'm getting all my outfits by next week iA and I ordered a gharara for my dholki. It's a light green one with red gota kaam. If I like that one maybe I can suggest that I wear that on my mehndi since it's fancier and heavier and ask if they would be ok if I wear it on my mayoon. That wouldn't really be hurting their feelings would it?

It does look a lot better when I wear it but still not something I would have picked out for myself. I tried to put the dupatta in a way that the green part is mostly hidden and then it looks ok.

Re: I need some good excuses

that's enough of time.fancy lace means the ones with stones and beads over them.

Re: I need some good excuses

I actually don't think it looks that bad.

I agree with what someone else said, get the bodice part fitted and maybe buy a plain green dupatta (that matches the green in the suit) and stick some gotta and stuff on it.

Re: I need some good excuses

Hi Chamak challo...i think the suit isnt so bad....and im sure your gonna make that suit look great inshallah...

I had a similar issue where I wasn't too happy with the suit i was given, not coz it wasnt nice..but just coz it wasn't what i expected.....anyways i didnt think i'd look good on my mehndi but alhumdulilah it turned out to look great and everyone loved the suit...

Im sure you can pull it off in the same way!! Good luck!

Re: I need some good excuses

its easy chaamakchallo just tell them this doesnt go with the stage decor of yur mendhi n say u will wear this to yur mayoon instead... that sud work,,, at least u will eb wearing it!

I say speak up and ask them if it's ok if you wear the heavier outfit you ordered. Tell them the outfit they got is too light and you won't look like a bride-to-be. Love how everyone is telling you to compromise and that it's not a big deal. I respect that but don't agree. This day only comes once - some in laws have a habit of taking things to heart - if not this they will come up with something else to talk about. I don't think ASKING them if you could wear something else to YOUR FUNCTION is being rude.

Sorry but not feeling the peshwaas. If not worn according to your body type, the wrong type of peshwaas will make you look even bigger. If nothing else works, go to Oak Tree and switch up the dupatta! ;)

Re: I need some good excuses

From my experience, its usually the clothes that I don't like that end up looking really good in pics/in person. If you feel that it is not as fancy eg. the dupatta, you can get those ghungroo thngies/tassles and sew them on the ends as well as on the daman of the kameez all around. Get some sitara's ( u know those gold round things with the one hole in the middle to sew on) or go to a craft store and u can get different colour crystal stones that you can either glue on or there is a metal mouth you put from underneath the shirt to fasten the stones and put those on the top.

And accessorize accessorize !!!

Re: I need some good excuses

I'd say customize it a bit to make it work like many other guppans have suggested..
The outfit isnt that bad.. Be creative with more kaam on it and some stuff..

And if it really doesnt work.. You're totally not satisfied.. Try to explain your inlaws that you're gonna wear something else for your mehndi and keep this outfit for another occasion..
