I need honest views and suggestions.

Would you be willing to buy printed fabric off net?. If yes, what type/quality fabric?.

How about having the option of buyin the fabric and also if you want having it stitched like proposed by the designer.

Also, are there any other particularly fashion related things in pakistan you guys would be interested in buying online?.

I am just working on few projects and meanwhile i am thinking of doing something exclusively for the people who are abroad and are not able to buy things of their choice from pakistan. So i need your views, suggestions and willingness for this thought.

  1. Yes I would. Lawns, cottons, chiffon/georgettes, maybe that light fabric with little sequins (mukaish i believe?) and yes a good quality :p

  2. Having the option of getting it stitched in a certain way would make me more likely to buy the item, since I dont' have a darzi/darzan in pak who can stitch well.

  3. Pakistan has an amazing selection of shawls, as everything else here the ones available are total ripoffs ($40 for something i got for 700 Rs!). Shoes from stylo/Ecs are to die for as well.

  4. That's a very good idea, but what I hate are the xtremely high prices that retailers (and even some "designers") charge. I don't mind paying a little bit higher if i know that I will get quailty but u know seeing those stores on gerrard street/jackson hegihts charge $200 for a simple printed georgette suit..its robbery.

thanks for your detailed reply :).

The reason i particularly mentioned quality was because i hope people understand that a good quality would cost more too :P lol, most people forget about that. And if you are wanting something that is designer created in the true sense then you should be willing to pay extra for that too.

However i know what you are trying to say because many a times people just sell obnoxious, low quality stuff with not an iota of creativity in the name of "designer" labels. So one has to be very careful deciding what they should buy and how much they should pay for it. I have seen the stuff at gerrard store and no offence but 99.9% are horrible and i know i wouldnt them even for $2. So i think i can feel the pain as i have been through it myself. Hence i desire to do it for people out there who i think can do with my assistance.

Thanks for the shawls idea...:). As for the shoes, it think online buying for shoes can be lil hard because there are alot of people whose size varies according to the shoe style, etc. So it could be an issue. However i had like more views on this.

Thanks again.

Re: I need honest views and suggestions.

What about artificial jewelery at reasonable rates, during my last day, I saw some gorgeous stuff starting Rs 1000 maximum Rs. 5000

hmm ok sure....i didnt think of it at all before cuz i guess i myself dont wear it but also i think there is actually a far better quality and designed artificial jewellery available abroad. But ya maybe nt much of ethnic jewellery...!?! but how many wear such jewellery abroad?

I dont know about just buying fabric...I would want it to be stitched. The tailors here charge around $30 per suit (for a decent design). It would be great if more casual wear was available online...and by casual wear I mean lawn, cotton, georgette and chiffon suits in trendy cuts. Also if someone could sell boutique outfits from places like cynoption, khaadi and chinyere? Offering prints from bareeze (stitched) is a great idea too.

Personally, I care about the quality of casual wear since I will be wearing it more than once (unlike formal wear) and so I dont mind paying a higher price for it (as long as it good quality, fits well and the person shopping for you has good taste in clothes)

As for other stuff, I would want to be able to buy desi sandals/flats to wear with desi clothes (the embellished kind...) also hard to find stuff like fancy hair ornaments/parandas/anklets....

Thank-you for bringing this up. That was going to be my next question :). I think there is lovely stuff @ Generation and some at Chinyere, Maria B, Sarah Salman, etc. So if they themselves dont offer online servies maybe i can have that added to my site too. Let's see. The only issue would be i will have to buy it based on my choice and offer it for buying. And it can't be like showing you guys their collection and than whatever you select i buy for you. Because usually what's on their sites is not what they have in stores-lol. But i happen to have a good choice so i think it won't be a big risk. However will have to give it some thought.

Thanks for your time :).

i'll second that.its not hard to find pakistani clothes online or offline.its hard to find good quality in the right price range.everyone wants quick money these days.

Re: I need honest views and suggestions.

HI maham,
what about some funky tops to wear with jeans. I have to admit i am a bit obsessed with finding quirky stuff to wear with my jeans that is slightly different from wot everyone else is wearing. My mum always brings me tops from khaadee and generation and i always get nice compliments about them,

Sure. So would you be interesting in buying those khaadee/generation tops online? or would something on the same lines but by a new desigenr work for you?.

HI Hun, as long as they looked funky and the material was good i wouldnt mind buying either. for me its about quality and styling. if i could generation stuff online i'd be over the moon but if they were tops made by someone else and i liked them, i'd buy those to :) hope this makes sense!

Well if you think artifical jewellery abroad is good, but then its not cheap and you don’t get the desi kind of stuff.

Just to give an example I got this set on the top o my pic on my last day in Pakistan and was stunned to see the price, only Rs 1200!!! would never get something compared to this here in Europe for 10 Euros.

Now I reget not getting more, especially the green emerald set for Rs 3000. :bummer:

kool, makes all the sense :) thanks.

ok theek hai :). wl keep that in mind, thanks.

Re: I need honest views and suggestions.

yes re jewelry sets that one shown by sadia b is lovely, if you can find similar one at reasoble prices brilliant, as i have found recently the prices here have gone so high, you could by a decent set for £15 here and i have even bought quite a few on a buy one get one free offer!! but now the nice stuff are £60!! and tacky sets are £20, so nice artificial sets would be nice i think paying around £20 - £30 for a set isnt too bad as long as it is nice

U know I don't mind the stuff i saw at gerrard/JH...its not bad. $200+ for a kaamwala suit/saree isn't unreasonable but its the really simple stuff, like lawns/cottons/etc that you KNOW are < $50 but eing sold for 3 times that much...that's a killer.

i was just thinking..how about real good quality artificial, like desi style jewelery?

Re: I need honest views and suggestions.

^ ya, but for that i wl need to figure out myself where to get the jewellery from :P lol, i m nt a jewellery person.

I would love to be able to buy outfits by Maria B casual wear, Cynosure, Khaadi, etc.

I love the silver gold plated stuff or just silver jewelery with cubic zirconia. My friend wore these beautiful silver chandelier earrings that she got from Pakistan for 2000 and I saw something similar at Topshop for £60. So, the idea of artificial jewelery is really tempting.

Re: I need honest views and suggestions.

Hi, I have no use for 'lawn ki suit' living on the east coast of the US usually when I wear desi clothes its to weddings or dawats and usually need the formal stuff. I have bought Jewelery from PK but it seems that in the big cities at least there is lots of good costume jewelery for cheap the only things I really like to get from PK are bangles (kanch) and steel cause they sell them very expensive here. My big thing is east west stuff, I love tops from Khadee and other boutiques so would def. buy that online. My problem with east west stuff is that most of the time when desi designers do western stuff they don't do it right but Khadee is one of the brand that has gotten it right and the stuff is very wearable. I'd be really interested in western evening wear with desi 'kaam' etc. A few v. high end designers do make this but its out of the price range and even so its not really as good as it could be. But summer dresses, long dresses or kurtis would be great!

Ya. I am only thinking if they had be willing to tie up with me or i would just have to do it on my own?!?. Confused on that.
