i dont kno which forum to put this in.. so Mods move it if u guys want to…
ok girlss here it goes..
i have a sea green gharara… n the duptatta n kameez both have alotta kaam on it … i neeed ideas on how to wear the duppata but in a differet way cuz a few others girls r wearin a gharara too.. i want mine stickin outt… so got any ideass… share share..
I think it should be moved to culture cos dupattas have nothing to do with religion unless they r on the head.
I like leaving my dupatta on the side if it has kaam and stuff on it, or leave it on the side and bring it from behind you and over your arm, but you need to be all stiff and poised throughout the evening to carry that. If my dupattas don't have kaam on them I put them back in my neck over both shoulders, not spread out though so the shirt isn' hidden beneath it. Apparently yours has kaam on it so I think putting on the side and bring it over the arm from behind will work. I absolutely hate hate hate it when girls wear the dupatta over one side and then pin up the corners to the hips on the other side. Ughhhh.
Btw are you getting married or is it for someone elses party?

challo u asked girls but, guys have been contributing so i thought i would give u a truly unique idea
put it flat on the garage floor, pour a few bottles of heavy starch on it. get two bamboo sticks and attach that to two sides, wrap the bamboo sticks around your back with some twine.
i dont know the sticking out business anyways, I am prefer a more understated elegence as my approach anyways.
the prob with trying to stand out is that, it may look good and it may not, and if it does not, u kinda end up looking like a clown.
sadly too many desis dont know this and i see amatuer donatella versace (not) wanna bes who unfortunately decide to unveil their "designer" hobby in large public gathering often getting them nicknames like statue of liberty, barney, woody wood pecker etc, which have stayed with them for years.
^The most stylish way to carry a dupatta on you in to put it through both your arms in the front and across the back so that it looks like a U shape around you. In other words, it shoud be draped around your lower back, coming up front and then going around your arms, falling downward on each side. Even though it doesn’t cover your chest done this way, it nonetheless looks quite elegant.
This is exactly what I was going to say! Or, you could wear it so it isn’t draped across your back … rather, around your neck so that both ends of the dupatta fall over your chest … that only works if there is kaam on the border of the dupattas and neck is plain.
I have to go with SP on this...putting it thru ur arms will make the whole outfit look more elegant and is perfect for formal occassions....however if its a casual event this may be a bit too much and you migh want to stick to the usual dupatta on the side
But whichever way you decide to use the key is to carry yourself properly...stand tall and don't slouch!
thanks.. all three styules of carryin duppatta.. i kno all of them.. n iv es used the duppatta liek that dependin on the outfit..
i was lookin for sumthin other than the usual... but naahh ill jus go on with my instinct n try all three tonight an see what looks best/...thanks guyss...
For dupattas with kaam especially on ghararas, I like to pin one side on my shoulder and let it hang down, and then bring the rest of it around the back and tuck in one corner on my other side on my gharara. That opens up the dupatta and looks nice.
