Cresci: Parents who do these things may be greedy or thinking of their daughter’s well-being.
BUT the Bottom-Line is that they lack faith. It’s a sign of “Kamzor Eimaan”. When People do not trust that whatever good or bad times come, it’s from Allah :swt: and only He can give happiness and not the wealth or any human being, they end up acting like you just mentioned.

man its not that they are selling them off, they think they will be better offf finincally...maybe they dont want their daughters to live poor...ofcourse this thought can backfire, and the guy can threat her like shyt...

Well Hopefully there is a solution to this, maybe we can educated our family members, peacefully and explain to them, especially the reasoning behind it using Islam.

What makes me just as mad, is some parents..old school thinking....will refuse to marry their daughter to someone simply based on his caste/zaath. He could be the most religous and best option, but based on such a stupid thing they would reject, and rather marry to a loser but at least he is the same caste. I heard of 2 such incidents, 1 in family and 1 in friends...and it makes me soooo mad. Isn't one of the 1st characterestics that we should look for in a potential spouse be their deen/taqwa/behavior?
