Just got my new laptop. I love it. (Dell XPS M1330)
But I hate Vista. I’ve only been using it for an hour or so and I am SO FRUSTRATED! I miss XP…
I just put some music onto my laptop and then Windows Media Player 11 (P.O.S., btw) just automatically made the album art for ALL of the songs the same thing. It just picked one of the songs and took that album art and decided to use it for all the other songs. And I don’t know how to fix it. I’ve tried everything!
Okay and now the display is doing something whacky and it just changed dimensions :( I don't know what I did. But I can't find the display menu to change it back!
Old trick ..........
always works for me .......
Go to start menu ..
Click "shut down" -> turn off ..........
n taraaaan ............. ur problems are solved
nvm i just deleted the music and then put it on again. it's fine... for the time being.
cricketplaya - one small problem i'm having with this laptop.. the spacebar doesnt work well at all. i push it and it doesnt work. i have to push it extra hard or tap it two or three times to get it to work. yesterdayiwastalkingonmsnlikethiscuzthestupidthingwouldn'twork. :(
I was reading this "PC HOW-TO" magazine that has an article on how to make your Vista work faster, by removing startup programs, stoping unneccessary background services and tweeking with boot menu.
Man, I think i eliminated45 sec of boot time, at least.
and I removed all those stupid shortcuts from dekstop.
My biggest gripe with any OS is if it is not stable and crashes. Once I had a computer runinng Windows ME and it was perhaps the worst.
Right now I have a work notebook that is running XP and a home notebook that is running Vista. Both are extremely stable, and have not crashed at all in many months. Of course, I use it smartly by disabling/uninstalling crapware and having all kinds of firewalls and pop-up blockers etc.
Point is, if your hardware is powerful enough (2 or 3 GB RAM minimum) to support Vista, its a very nice OS, with a lot of security features. There is pretty much nothing to dislike in Vista. It has a smart file management system and plenty of user friendly features. You just need to be a little patient and get used to it. XP is the same. Very stable and nice user interface.

the only problem with vista is the compatibiity issue....
Whenever i get a message "Update available for Media Player" .. I click "Cancel". I am gonna be getting my new lappy soon & guess what? my Linux DVDs are already jumping to wipe MS off. I may install Virtual BoX & run XP on Virtual machine. Luckily no RAM problem, I have 4GB in new lapyy, enough to run two Virtual machines.
Okay so I’ve gotten a little bit more used to Vista. It’s not so bad. It’s just a little different. My computer has 4 GB RAM so everything runs pretty smoothly. I just got a little frustrated the first time, that’s all.
Can Dell fix my spacebar? It doesn’t work properly. Sometimes I have to hit it a few times to get it to work. It’s really annoying.
