I really appreictae your post, I guess my complex comes from sometimes middle people telling us that the boys side said ‘rang kam lagaa’ or they were looking for someone with fair skin and i didnt fit the breif, infact one mother told us that directly after sending a photo ’ rang bahot kam hai to samajh mein nahi araha hai’

Although I get compliments for my skin colour from many people that I am golden and exotic looking ( people sometimes think im brazillian) these desi mothers just cant see past my skin colour.

And no i wouldnt want to marry these people anyway blah blah but it does hurt to hear that, so when i do get rejected and there is no explanation i tend to think must be my skin colour.

My parents dont say one thing to me or even push me that much, but I do see with my eyes the worry they have for me and how much effort they put into finding me a good match my dad drives 3-4 hours just to interview people. I know they want to retire away from england and they are older and have more health problems i just dont want them to be stressed anymore. Mum keeps telling me to find someone myself as that would be the best thing, but i cant find any one :s

Yesterday a fully educated family ( all doctors) called my dad and asked him to send a photo of me. Today they called my dad back during his lunch break and said they are not interested as i dont fit their requirements, dad asked what they were…’ actually our son is very very fair so we need a girl to match’

What is our society coming to

Have you actually considered doctors from pakistan? My best friend was in a very similar situation as you. She is a clinical psychologist and wanted to marry someone from uk. nearly 6 years of parading infront of ' good educated families' with chai, samosas and chaat was taking its toll on her.
Then with some convincing from my mum, her parents actually went to pakistan and found a very suitable rishta for her. Because her husband was a doctor, he got the spouse visa pretty much straight away. Mashallah she is happily married now and they have 2 kids.

We arent looking for doctors only, we are looking for an educated/decent man from any western country preferably and yes we have considered people who have been abroad for 3-4 years too.

also the situation isnt great from doctors from pakistan/india atm unfortunately :(

Inspiron, what do you think, wouldn’t it have been better if this father kept quiet and did not call your dad to say no and give the reason? Sometimes I think its better for them to be quiet than call us and identify all the negatives in us . I think those people should definitely reply with their negative response with whom the matter proceeded to next few steps (like the guys you met and talked to etc.). But for people whom you sent the pic only, should have kept quiet. It hurts when we have spent so much time and efforts on some people and then they just disappeared. I don’t mind if people don’t reply after seeing my pic, I consider it a negative response obviously. But when some people don’t reply after 2-3 visits, bhot ghussa ata hai

So many moms ask my mom over the phone how does I look like, whether I am pretty, fair, slim etc. My mom replies, apni aulad tau sab ko achi lagti hai. Allah ki bandi hai ap khud dekh lein phir decide karain

I agree with you Ashy that families should not phone and say no or comment on photos when its a No from them without visiting, it is a little hurtful to my parents to hear, didnt really see the point.

But when people come and visit and phone you over and over then disappear yes then it is very frustrating.

what has particulalrly annoyed me about this family is their superficial nature despite the whole family being highly educated
