I dont understand...

something about Muslim countries.

Why is it that when someone comes to US they dont have to worry about bringing/carrying any sort of religious articles, books, Qur’an, etc? But if a non-Muslim goes to some Muslim countries, the same rules dont apply there. They cant bring a Bible into some Muslim countries. Why is that?

What are we scared of? Shouldnt we show tolerance to a certain extent?

Hopefully I posted in the right place.

Re: I dont understand...

hmm i didnt know u couldnt bring religious books into muslim countires.......

Re: I dont understand...

its like bringing a bible into a room, and like bringing a bible into a mosque

the bible isnt the issue, its the location that matters. the bible is only an example

plus these western countries dont really have much morals and are trying too hard to be secular.. whereas Islamic countries have morals and are not secular

nb: should/would/could

Re: I dont understand...

Brother....the Bible is a Holy book - yes even Islaam considers it so. And Islaam the religion DOES teach tolerance and respect of other religions and their worshippers. Its up to the followers of Islaam to adhere (or not) to the teachings of tolerance. Your statement

"plus these western countries dont really have much morals and are trying too hard to be secular.. whereas Islamic countries have morals and are not secular"

is very ignorant and far from true. AND its intolerant.

THIS is why, PSquared.

Let's not even go in that category...If we start talking about morals and values and culture PROVIDED we do so with integrity and complete honesty, it's actually Muslims who are forgetting and losing culture and morals considering the fact that Islam is the newest of all religions...

actually after 9/11 many people are very wary of bringing religious books, especially in other languages.

but I agree that the countries where people are unable to bring their religious books in or have public places or worship, they need to get with the program.

although I did not know about ppl not being able to take bible into a country, even when we were in KSA christians and hindus that we knew had their books and other religious symbos and artifacts in their homes nd no one stopped them from bringing those in the country.

Re: I dont understand...

I've been to many airports in USA where they have a worship/meditation room and I've seen Prayer Mat (for Salaat) there ...

Plus you dont have to bring Quran or Hadith book cause verything is available here ..

Even after 9/11, USA is the most tolerent country in the world.

Honest to goodness, and I hope I dont sound selfish when I say this, that after 9/11 I am so happy that me and my family live in USA, cuase that is probably the safest place on earth for my family to enjoy our human rights and practice our religion in peace.

most muslim countries are secular states

Re: I dont understand...

king of saudi is trying hard to bring all religions together good news

Re: I dont understand...

he is custodian of two holy mosques too

Re: I dont understand...

although he himself is already close to bush sahib

Re: I dont understand...

Its because in US religion is everyone's private matter and they don't bother other people even they are muslims, buddhists or whatever they are.And they are more diverse. That a good part, i love that.
And in middle eastern or South Asian muslim countries they don't take religion as private matter, their country's laws are based on religion. They take religion very seriously that why we always see two groups gifhting like sunnis fighting shias or qaadyanis. Well its not good and people are not at all diverse. They take it so seriously that they start fighting on these issues.

True, people are very careful about carrying religious articles.

Ive actually read about some places where Bibles, pork, alcohol and guns are prohibited and they are Muslim countries. It just seems so inappropriate to me and a bad example.

How did you go from books to guns and alcohol?

I havent seen anything for namaz like that yet. But then again, I wasnt really looking for them either so I might have missed it. I travel for work sometimes and its SO annoying when they call out my last name loud and clear (Ive got a very obvious Muslim surname). I was in a separate line once in a N Carolina airport.

When I was a lot younger, my nani used to bring Qur'ans and Hadith books with english translation to US for me and she never had a problem.

TLK, its true. So many people bash the States and whatnot. However, its a very good place to be right now. Yeah, the economy isnt doing so great and people are losing money on investments BUT money is better than LIVES. Ill lose money anyday over living in danger.

Moral is some thing agreed upon by society. You may not agree with their morals but they are a million time more honest, then us , to follow them

off course you haven’t lived in Canada.:snooty:

I know! Here, faith is considered a personal thing and it is! One thing I love about Islam itself is we dont need a "middle man" to speak to Allah swt.

for all those arguing my point, i guess you didnt read the last line i wrote..

what is and what should be are two different thingss

Re: I dont understand...

Must admit, it's really refreshing to hear that American Muslims are not complaining about living in the US. :)

You should hear a Canadian speak about living in Canada. We've got nothing but love for this land!
