I deserve a jawani .. I’m almost 21 yrs old, I dont wanna waste away my years just sitting around being a robot, study, work, study, work, study, work.. my only way of socializing being through facebook or msn ..

I dont wanna have to feel guilty or be told to change my major coz I have a late class, coz good lil grls dont stay out at night (7 PM) even if its for school coz for some reason after dark, all the monsters come out..

Burfee, hiccup, parents ain’t perfect.. overprotectiveness is one thing, having double standards, letting sons do whatever the hell they want, and lockign their daughters up IS jahil and very paindu.. I love my parents, and they are not jahil at all, but they were very unfair.. again, dont ever leave pakistan if u want to give ur kids the total pakistani (i.e., paindu, double standards, unfair) upbringing.. i honestly thinK i wuda been happier if I was raised here in Pak or gone to HS here, coz at least I wasn’t alone and Iw oudln’t be the fking outcast and social retard..

parents fear a lot for their kids…when it’s night they fear they wil be asaulted, raped or something…that’s why they put curfews:rolleyes:
what they don’t realise is that the more you protect your kids…the less strong they are to deal with the world

in the end i took by force all the freedom that my parents refused to give me…and eloped a few times…my parents got so scared to loose me that they really gave me all freedom now…lol, but i’m 25:p

And there was me thinking that it was only my parents who were so over-protective. It is so hard, especially since all my friends are not pakistani and its so hard for them to understand. My friend really wanted me to go and stay with her in France during the easter and was begging me to ask my parents for permission. But, i didn't even bother coz i knew what the answer would be. And if i had asked, there would have been hundreds of accusations...Its a lose lose situation!

Im sick of being told that I can have “single grl” fun after I get married.. BULLSH*T!!! :

Im not talkin abt going to all night parties getting drunk or whatever, but I wanna be able to have dinner with freinds at a reasonable hour and not have to beg them to leave work early or even go to a wedding or formal or something.. but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo i can’t, coz everything is always in Brooklyn or Queens or Manhattan, and I cant go and other grls who go all go with each other n they live in the same neighborhood or have dads to drive them around, and if I had been living in Bk too, then i could hang out with them til 12 at night..

I know it sounds so petty, “the right to chill”… but its more than that.. Its peace of mind, feeling like a mature adult.. i want to feel like a normal person, not someone with a pathetic curfew of being home before dark, who is prohibited even from working or taking certain classes coz of the time it ends.. I want to be able to relax and have fun with my friends instead of worrying abt “omg when is she gonna show up? i have to goooooooooo” or concentrate on class, instead of looking at the clock, wondering when professor is gonna stop talking coz I have to catch the xpress train else i’ll be 20 minutes late (late for what?) …

For the last few years I’ve given up fighting for it coz I felt it wasnt worth it, I didnt wanna fight with my parents, esp since after my dad got sick.. My brother fought for his indepdence and he’s happy where he is, but I also saw how much my parents , esp ammi, hurt because of it, and no matter how much I hate my life sometimes coz of their stupid paindoo rules, I cant put them through tht hurt… but these last few months here, i felt liek I was 16 again, and Ive absolutely hated it.. Ive seen how my cousins live here, how their life is and its the only life theyve ever known, maybe they’re happy/satisfied with it, maybe thye’re not.. but I would fking kill myself if I had to live like tht..

Oh my God Sara.. You took the words right out of my mind.. I have felt liek this from a very young age and whatever I write will just be repeating what you have said..
All I can add is that this feelign of entrapment makes me scared of what my future husband is like and I don’t want the same feelings of being caged in.. Maybe that’s whay I don’t want to get married to someone from my family background as I have seen how girls are and I don’t want to be 1 ..

Thus billions of lectures how evil a daughter I am and that all 4 choices given.. aren’t deserved by someone like me…

Girls should be allowed to do everything i agree, but in PAkistan this thing have already risen up to some extent...I mean k especially in lahore Most girls can go out at night nd stuff...Maybe u need to come back tO pakistan..just my 2 cents ..good luck

i’m almost 19 & yes my parents r overprotective…but tht doesn’t mean tht they don trust u…
& yes @ times it gets a little irritating…but when i try to see things from their perspective…it turns out tht they r right …
though i’m not wrong either…but whtever they r doin is for our best interests…
