lil_ash: Wait which peel have you done already? How did it go? I'd love to hear your experience with it. :)

Re: i bought the lactic acid....
I have some questions too! I love the after results, but like pseudo, I hate the look one gets during the downtime of the peel - yikes, it's a bit off-putting and I don't want to go into work looking like that and knowing my luck, I wouldn't be able to time it so that the bulk of the peeling happened when I could hide out.
@Paheli00; so, what options would I have for a milder peel that might have light flaking, but not the extreme reaction as some of the more concentrated peel solutions? I don't mind doing it more often and the results taking longer, I just want to avoid the downtime if possible.
Re: i bought the lactic acid....
^ Sehrysh: Yea the downtime sucks. That's why the only time I can do TCA is over Thanksgiving or Christmas break.
You can go with either lactic or glycolic. Both of these doesn't really require any "downtime"(ie. no frosting). Frosting is only experienced with TCA, Salicylic. Lactic is too gentle to cause any frosting. With glycolic, I've been able to do 50% (after building up my skin's tolerance) without any frosting. They do sell 60% and 70% glycolic but personally, I've never gone that high. Just like you....I prefer doing it more often and not dealing with downtime.
Re: i bought the lactic acid…
I’ll be trying out 40% glycolic since there are less chances of frosting with it, once I can tolerate these i’ll move on to salicylic, thanks so much! ![]()
Re: i bought the lactic acid....
can somebody tell me if I can use Baking soda instead of powder to neutralize?
did anybody have any luck with their beta hydroxy serum for acne?
Re: i bought the lactic acid…
I’ve tried glycolic peel 50% for a month and a half long time ago but it did absolutely nothing, not even sting. Then I used Glycolic Lactic peel 35%, and I LOVED IT. Left my skin smooth and clean. Recently, my acne has cleared up and left some really bad scars so I decided to give the glycolic peel another shot. Its the same peel 50% but this time it stinged and I feel that it worked, my face feel really clean, and my blackheads are gone, so I’m going to keep using it. Its wierd because this peel didn’t work before and now it is?
I will keep updating on the results, hopefully the scars will go away. I’ll try the Baking soda thing too!
Re: i bought the lactic acid…
^Did you use something like this? Amazon.com: Glyco-Lac/60, Level 2 Gel Peel -30 ml/1 fl oz: Skin Laboratory how did it help your skin?
Re: i bought the lactic acid…
Nice! Glad to hear you’re seeing results! ![]()
Let me ask you some q’s just so others reading this get an idea on what’s working for you:
Re: i bought the lactic acid....
^May I also add
6)How did you apply the peel to your face? with a fan brush or something else?
7) How did you wash off the peel? According to many reviews, it should be cleaned off with a warm cloth, not just water because that won't clean the acid off properly.
Re: i bought the lactic acid…
My 50% glycolic peel is from this brand and same seller. My Lactic/glycolic peel was from Cellbone brand, I got it as a sample with my Neutralizer and the sample had a very good quantity. I used it for about 3-4 months and I still have about a quarter of the bottle left. I cant find the exact percentages their amazon site but they have other peels.Amazon.com At a Glance: Cellbone Technology, Inc. Their peel actually cleared up my pores, made me skintone even(chin, cheek sides, forehead), clean, and I broke out less frequently. My skin was overall very clean.
This is my Glycolic peel: Amazon.com: Glycolic Acid 50% Gel Peel, 30ml (Professional): Skin Laboratory
Giving it another shot, Last monday I started using this again. Purpose for using this is to get rid of my acne scars.

Let me ask you some q's just so others reading this get an idea on what's working for you:
1) Where did you buy your peel from? Would you happen to know the pH of it? 2) How long did you leave the 50% Glycolic peel on for? 3) What do you use to clean your skin BEFORE the peel? (ie. get rid of ALL oils etc.) 4) Do you use Retin A or any other products that contain glycolic or salicylic acid? 5) How often do you plan on doing the peels?
1) Got it from Amazon, brand called Skin Laboratory. I have no idea what the pH of it s, the amazon website didn't provide that info I believe.
2) I tested my jawline for 4 minutes. When I applied it completely to my face I left it on about 8 minutes thanks to the ceiling fan.
3)I use the Alpha hydroxy foaming cleanser, its really gentle.
4) I use a 2% salicylic acid scrub once a week, and I use a face lotion with 12% glycolic acid in it (also from the brand Alpha hydroxy).
5) I'll be using it once a week, every week until my Acne scars are invisible, or atleast almost.
Maybe I should start taking a weekly pic of my acne scars to see how effective it goes. Let me know if you guys want to see weekly or monthly pic updates.

Definitely! that would be SO helpful!
Re: i bought the lactic acid…
ooer, confusing..ok just checked the PH levels of my lactic acid, the 30% IS A ph level of 2.3 and the 50% lactic acid is 2.0 …so whats that mean…and where do i get a ph 1 of lactic acid…the most safest place to buy them on is the website ive ordered off…in the uk.

You're making this more complicated than it is nadz. The example I gave in the previous post compared 2 different types of acid.
As for what you have....it just means that that the 50% lactic is stronger than the 30% lactic.
And why even look for a pH of 1.0 in lactic acid? If you want something stronger than the 50% you have....just move onto using 40% or 50% glycolic.

I'm very happy to hear you're noticing a positive change! And the Alpha Hydroxy 12%....that's the same one I used to use. :)
Yes, if you don't mind....I'm sure pics would be super helping to many people. That's one thing I regret not doing (taking before and after pics).

Dunno how lil_ash prefers to apply but I apply mine using a q-tip. I've tried using the fan brush but felt it didn't give me enough control. Personal preferance. :)
As for washing off the peel.....once the acid is neutralized, there's no need for it to be washed off with a cleansar or even a washcloth. From a scientific/chemistry point of view....the acid doesn't do anything to the skin at all (its like a gun with no bullets). This also goes back to personal preferance. I prefer to take mine off simply with baking soda and water. Lil_ash seems to be happy with taking it off with a gentle cleansar. If you'd prefer using a washcloth, there's nothing wrong with it (just be gentle!). :)
