I am his friend too. I think he is going throuugh soooo much. He was in tears talking about my friend. I felt very jealous. 
. For those who think i should walk away. This is not easy for me either. ok.

Ok i am not sure if they have filed for divorce or not. But what he told me he is filing so that means he has not. So what is that suppose to mean in Islamic terms????????????? like giving one divorce???

DON'T make this about you. It's their marriage and their divorce. The last thing that he needs is to jump into another relationship, he is obviously upset about the divorce regardless of the reasons behind it.

ok isn't iddat period is when woman suppose to wait 4 months or something before getting married again. But why the heck he would be going through iddat, he is a guy!.

She is going to go through it while they wait. If after these 4 months, they are sure they want to separate they can, and he can give her the remaining 2 talaqs. But if the want to remarry, they need a simple nikah and they can be together again.
Keeping that possibility in mind, you shouldn't be around to distract him because you could become the "other woman" in this case.

3) Dating an already involved guy isn't a good idea (understatement).
