Like many others on north american subcontinent-I watched the match with a mixed group of Indian and pakistani. At my work, some indian and pakistanis were joking…and they had a bet. If pakistan wins, one of the indians will have a pakistani flag on their work cubicle for a week. If India wins, the pakistani will have indian flag on their work cubicle for a week.

I walked into work today, and saw Indian flag on the pakistani’s cubicle and it is going to stay there for a bit. I realize this is a friendly bet and they joke and chide each other.

What I am tired of is the excuses we make. Lot of good teams lost in this world cup including the australian team. Did we hear them making excuses? They acknowledged that they didn’t play well and are on focused on what to do next.

I am hearing from many of fellow pakistanis that Indians won because they were “lucky”. Had we not dropped catches, had we not done this or that. …it doesnt matter. Bottom line is, cricket is an integration of bowling, batting and fielding…each being equally important. Its not enough to be good in one and not good in other.

Many good indian batsmen got out without putting a good score on the board including Yuvraj. Are we saying that ‘Wahab Riaz’ was lucky to get all the good batsmen out in no time? No, we are saying he bowled well. We spend too much time focusing on what we do well. The things we didnt do well, we just say the other team was lucky.

If you want to focus on luck…I am going to say that If Indian team was lucky that we missed so many of sachin’s catches, we were lucky too…the indian batting lineup that has been a nightmare for other good teams…was relatively easy for us to tame despite of couple of our best bowlers not bowling well. Lets just acknowledge that they played better than us and that we lost.

And now focus on winning the next world cup 2015. For if we had won the match, we would never have said that our bowlers got lucky or our crappy batsmen got lucky. So now that we have lost, I am just going to say we didnt play good enough and its time to step up.

I dont want to be embarassed anymore. I understand that many are saying that its only a game. I agree but we are also lagging behind in education, technology, economy and other things compared to the world. A world cup is an opportunity to show case our excellence, dominance, superiority in one area. Well I’ll wait till 2015 now.

I know what you are saying but believe me if such arrogance and sourness was not shown by the winning side, we wouldnt have behaved this way.

Why must they claim to have washed us out when they only won by 29 runs? Is that really THAT big of a victory especially considering they say they are the best team of the world and our team is nowhere their standard. That's really weird of them to be saying this at onse side and then coming up with such claims.

I think when teams such as Pakistan, Australia, Sri Lank or India play...it is expected to be a close game. I don't think any of these teams can literally wash out the other team except on a really off day for one team. I understand your sentiments...but had the table reversed..and we had won, I am sure we would have created as much noise about it. I know I would have, coz I had already planned a party with my friends to go downtown and create some noise.

One teams victory celeberation sounds like arrogance to the losing team. It is understandable. But, I am saying why are we always on the losing side? If we win, we wont have to sit here and analyze other teams arrogance. We will be busy partying ourselves

True, the match was lost because we were not upto the mark. As I said in one to the other thread when you lose a match every action crystalises and gets analysed and when you win everything is overlooked. I also feel embarrassed and angry when I read that the match was lost because it was fixed and that some idiot has lodged a match fixing case with the Lahore high court. Why cant we just accept that yes we can lose a match and that when two teams play one will lose. Why cant we focus on the fact that after all the turmoil the team went through they performed remarkably and won 6 out of the 8 matches they played in the world cup and in the process defeated two of the best teams in the world, i.e. Sri Lanka and Australia.

I am not Embarrassed .... I am proud of Afridi and Team we did better than our 10 times Stronger team (Akram, Waqar, Shoaib, Inzamam, Anwar Mohd Yusaf) could do. We got into Semi's.

Han tu yeh na bolne na k buri tarah haraya. That's really idiotic of them. I dnt believe our players would have said the same if they wud have won by only 29 runs. They defeated Australia and broke their record but HOW much did you see boosting them over it? Pls dont compare our behavior with the indian team because the indians are such whinners and its pathetic because they have won they dont even need to do it.

AND NO its not that they have won so i think they are arrogant, its the way they are boosting over their medicore performance which is making me say that.

oh yes pakistan didnot loose or india didnot win because of luck.

indian team was clearly more better in that match-they showed hard work.

our team made mistakes which costed us the match.

i'll say better luck next time pak....we now need to concentrate on improvements.

all in all i am not embarrassed of team at all....i am proud of them.

I totally agree with a lot of what you are saying. We need to accept that we didnt play well. We need to accept that we lost!!! I didnt know someone was alleging that match was fixed. Thats completely dumb. So every match we lose is fixed! LOL

We need to start promoting batting. somehow we always have great bowlers but not good batsmen. We need to find young batting talent

haha I know. Now I am going to go on about how little was expected of Canada and how Canada has done every Canadian proud by playing above expections. How ridiculous would that sound? The same way we are going on about Pak vs India match.

Straight up...canadian cricket team sucks...and we need to get our act together.

I am sad that we lost, but embarassed .. no way. We did good in my opinion. India was better than us and we all realize that so there is no excuse we are making or the team. Every Pakistani is saying we lack in batting side so we admit it but there really isn't anything to be embarassed about. I don't think we don't realize our weaknesses. India was a stronger team from day one, we weren't. We made it to third position from the bottom, isn't that something to be proud of? Afridi asked for bowling coach so I am sure he and the nation realizes why we lost.

Chill out…dont get embarrassed…it was just a game and there can only be one winner…tell them that u r proud of ur team…they have played far better than their potential considering the problems that they had to face in the last few months… :jhanda:
p.s. and pray that they lose the game against Sri Lanka lol :stuck_out_tongue:
