It could have been handled in a much more respectful manner. Seems very immature and bullying to behave that way toward someone who obviously is struggling with something going on in their life thus latching on to anyone who will give them the time of day. And then to come here and brag about it like it's some big accomplishment? It is more than a little weird. But hey, to each their own right? Some people just get enjoyment in putting others down...

OK just to further clarify: 1. I have done what someone earlier suggested: Oh thank goodness it was nothing urgent, glad to know all is well. 2. There are about 5 other ladies she's been doing this with.
Personally, I think that yes, I was rude but I think she was very inconsiderate to call at odd times such as exactly when she knows I have to put my kids to sleep. She is well aware as I have told her earlier that I missed your call since I put my kids to bed at the time. Now if she really wants my friendship, she needs to respect my availability.
I agree it isn't nice being rude, but I think I gave her a year of trying to explain the conventional way. :D
10 calls within 10-15 minutes is not normal behaviour. Calling someone, repeatedly, with an "urgent" message that is not actually urgent is not normal behaviour.
If she is doing this with other people, she may have some sort of personality disorder. I know another lady in our community who behaves like this. She has been diagnosed and is on medication. The ladies in the community are irritated at the "urgent" phone calls which are normally nothing urgent at all, but they tolerate it because she is not mentally fit. Her own family is fed up of her, but what can you do? She can't help it.
Just something to consider.... and if she does have some sort of personality disorder/bi-polar type depression, she will continue to call you (and others) during her episodes.
If you and the other ladies in the community that she keeps contacting are ever genuinely concerned, you should reach out to this woman's family. For the lady in our community, it is only when one of my aunt's contacted the woman's husband to find out why his wife keeps calling like this when he disclosed that she is mentally unstable. So now, when she calls repeatedly in the day, leaves "call me now - it's urgent" type messages, we all tolerate it cause we know she needs support and is not altogether there, mentally.

So, I wanted to sound like a broken record 
and say that TLK, generally speaking, you should not take side of your wife just because you are her husband. You are not supporting her at all if your behavior encourages her to do more bad things.
I have seen your religious posts so I am taking the liberty of mentioning that in Quran, Allah asks muslims to save themselves and their family from the fire of hell. To support your wife, or children for that matter, on things that lead to some type of sin (even a minor sin) is against the teachings.
Again, I took the liberty to say this because I felt comfortable saying this to you, and I hope you did not mind it. If you did, apologies are in order.

Does not Quran also say that your are clothes of your spouse? That means that in public, you hide their weakness. Also, in Shumail-e-Tirmidhi, I urge you to read the Hadith quoted through Hazrat Ayesha where she talked about 11 women got together discussing the weakness of their husbands, and how Hazrat Ayesha cursed them for doing that.
I distinctly said “I support her in public”. that does not mean that I wont help her to over come her weaknesses in private - and she does the same to me.
And Jinx, I never mind your posts. You always force me to re-think what I said or did, and you always do it respectfully.

being her hubby, i know more of the background of that incident than any on GS. We all know that Niks is not a rude person at all, so if she had to be - there must be a good reason.

I want to point this out because this woman may not be fully in control or aware of her behaviour. This puts you in a position where you need to act more responsibly towards her when you interact with her, whether you like it or not.
