"I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Spirituality and religiosity are not mutually exclusive.

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

I think it’s just a cop out statement. It sounds nice to say it, “Oh, I’m a very spiritual person.” rolleyes But, for everything else, you follow your own rules…

Brother, you know it, I know it, everyone of us in here know it, and more than anyone Allah knows it…that excuse isn’t going to work in the Akhirah.

The first thing you’ll be asked for is salaat. Aren’t you scared that you’ll be sitting in front of your Lord (very soon, too) and will have no answer to one of the easiest things you could have done and made Him happy with you? It only takes 10-15 minutes 5 times a day. That’s like 1hr or so total.

I’m sure all of us can sit and watch a movie for 3 hours…Hmmm?

Khair, forgive me for picking on you, but I see these kinds of excuses a lot, unfortunately.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Only RV made sense in this thread.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

A person who does not have guts to lead life as atheist but does not believe in god and religion.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Religious - modern definition - follow lots of rasams, pay more imprtance to quantity than quality, compete against other religions. Can somethimes be spiritual.

Spiritual - live and let live, looks within, reassess self periodically, contonuosly tries to improve self. Can somethimes be religious.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Islam has spirituality built n. :D

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

^ good!! And I have seen it here - lots of folks who project peace and calm!

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

It's like saying:

"I never went to medical school but I feel like I am a doctor"

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

:nono: Its like Veena Malik saying ‘Main pani main gir gai thi per geeli nahin hui’.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

^ Or I did not inhale

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

It’s more like she says:

“Main pani main nahin gai, magar geeli hoon”

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Kind of like saying "I don't pray or fast, but I am a Muslim"? The exact opposite of what you're saying in my thread.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

being religious and spiritual are two different things. I really dont see how someone cant be spiritual if they dont follow a religion.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Here how it really is:

Religious people: Don't drink because of faith.
Spiritual people: Drink and say I am a Muslim.

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

same difference my friend, same difference…

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

i am not religious but i am spiritual:snooty:

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Nope.

You will have to define what muslim means.

One recite kalmah and believes in it is muslim. One who does not pray or fast can be muslim but a non-practicing muslim, as long as the person still believes in kalmah and thinks the person is committing sins if not praying. That person has chance to repent and go back to praying.

Now spirituality without following religion is living in denial. A schizophrenic state.

"I believe in spirit but don't know what it is, who is the spirit, where is the spirit, somewhere it is". That is oxymoronic and confused statement.

Kinda like...medical school example. "I believe I am a doctor, but no idea how to practice medicine".

On the other hand: A person who goes to medical school successfully, has all the valid reasons to 'feel' like a doctor. :)

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

I may not be religious, I may not be spiritual.

But…

I’M SEXY AND I KNOW IT!

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Your definition of spirituality is really off and that is why your analogy doesn't make any sense.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

My spirit would have no direction without Islam.
