"I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

What the hell is that supposed to mean??

Does it make people feel good about themselves when they are not following their religion??

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Sh*t atheist say?

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

I think the concept of existence of God is deep rooted in human's heart and when they do something against the religion, they just try to satify themselves with such statements. Humans are still not at the stage (due to many unanswered questions) where they can deny existence of God and afford to be away from religion.

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

It means a faithless angel …

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Should they be saying 'I'm religious...but i'm not judgemental' instead?

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Please don't insult my spirituality with your intolerant remarks.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

it means they are understanding....they understand the importance of religion and they respect your devotion. they try to connect through mediation

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

^aren't they distinguishing religion from spirituality by making that statement??

deeming them as separate things.........??

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Nomi, do you pray all 5 namazain with regularity and on time? If not, then I'm afraid you're just spiritual.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

They look at religion differently than you do. Not everyone thinks the same way.

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

i just say i am less religious/not a very good practising muslim…:bummer:

spirituality kitho aa gai??

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

Dude are you just saying that to make yourself feel better for not following their religion?

You’re assumption is that people define themselves as “spiritual” when they don’t adhere to the requirements of their faith. So, if you’re admitting to not being a very good “practicing” Muslim…then would you then say that you’re spiritual? And if you don’t use that word for yoruself…then what would be a better substitute? Munaafiq, kaafir, hellion, or lazy? :stuck_out_tongue: (No, I’m not mocking you).

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

munaafiq = hypocrite…i am confessing my weakness…not hiding it/sugarcoating it…so NO
Kaafir = one who is a non-believer…nopes…i DO believe
hellion= don’t know what that is :hehe:
lazy = yes.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

I say that when people dont want the discipline that a practicing religion requires, but still like to belive in god. they call themselves spiritual

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

Hey NomiCA

Seriously they mean two things:

A) That they believe there is a reality beyond what we can see.
B) That there is no rule to follow … It is better for the soul to consider spiritual things like food … but not to treated like it is necessary for us to have … They consider it an option without dogma and hence do not worry about being the same or different.

They also believe unwittingly that a given religion requires its adherents to be bigotted. But you and I know that is abuse of religion really.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

I have had many wanna be atheist friends and I think what they mean to say is that they believe that there is some one in charge, controlling each and everything in this universe, but they dont really submit to the rules of any religion. They see it in a different way.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

Check if they smell of spirit.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

It means that person does not consider the religious rituals as necessary for spiritual uplifting.

Re: "I am not religous...but i am spiritual"

It's not fair to say people are lazy. Religion has been mixed with politics for centuries and some people are just skeptical or cynical about organized religion. I won't go into details because it will probably offend people, but it's not fair to label those who are not religious as being lazy.

And Nomi, I would pose a question to you as well. Please see my thread.

Re: “I am not religous…but i am spiritual”

I say im not religious but God fearing. :bummer:
just lazy to read namaz and feel so bad afterwards!
