Re: I am Malala
I heard she's not written it; its actually a white woman.
The fact that there is such propaganda around the book really turned me off to it.
I'm interested in her unadultered version; not the politically kept story.
Re: I am Malala
Nothing against Malala; in fact I think she's amazing.
The book however doesn't score too high in my humble opinion. The writing is basic and definitely not "classics" material. The story may appeal to Western audiences but even for someone like me who strongly believes that every girl has a right to education, I think it does not make for an impactful and engaging read.
While there is no doubt that the influence of socio-political riffraff is disturbing (to say the least), the book is all about Malala and how she became the voice for her people -- BUT in more of a forced and politically correct narration rather than a realistic dialogue which I think would have been more inspiring. Also, I wasn't really expecting so much political history. I'm not even sure how much of it is accurate.
By the time I was done, I felt my emotions weren't as stimulated and the bottom of my coffee mug did not have the anticipated layer of cookie crumbs...:)
Muniya, yes, it is written by Christina Lamb...and the claim is that it is the words of Malala, and to a certain extent they do sound like her if you've watched her interviews and heard her speeches. However, I'm not convinced it isn't tainted with propaganda.
Re: I am Malala
I read it, most of it.
The parts about her life and time in sawat, family is just awesome.
The parts "she" try to educate readers about pakistan and politics, sounds like broken record which we
here from people like marvi sarmad etc. I am glad I read it for free from book store.(my revenge to the bad books :D)
