I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help? :)

Hello there ladies (and gents),

After getting some very useful advice from my fellow guppies on a topic I posted earlier this week, I think it is only fair that I give something back to this forum too as my way of saying thank you!

Seeing there are so many people asking questions about skin, beauty, makeup etc etc on these forums… I have decided to start this thread. I am a freelance make up artist based in UK, ( I have a full time professional career, but makeup is my hobby  ) so I think I know a fair bit about makeup, beauty regimes and skin care etc.

If you have any questions about certain products, need skincare and beauty related advice, are getting married and need some guidance etc etc etc, feel free to give me a shout.

As I said I do have a fulltime job, so I may not get a chance to check this forum on a daily basis, but I shall try my best to answer what ever questions that come my way.

OK, since you do not use liquid foundation, and you have a few breakouts on your T zone, I would recommend that you invest in a mineral powder foundation. It is much kinder to your skin than the normal foundations that can clog up your pores and sometimes further irritate any acne/spots you may have.

It can be used to achieve an even skin tone, and if you want to use it for daily basis, a light dusting would be sufficient. Use a kabuki brush for it. However if you want to achieve slightly more fuller coverage for a special occasion, it is is easy to do so by applying a few more layers and build on the coverage gradually. This is much more gentle than the normal powders, as the minerals are finely ground so they blend into your skin and become almost unnoticeable, compared to the normal normal powders that can leave a cakey / powdery look on your face and can also dry out your skin!

I personally use bodyshops mineral powder! A lot of the cosmetic comapnies are launching mineral based products. clinique do a good variety, also try elizabeth arden :)

Hope that helps

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help? :)

hi,,,i m gettin marry soon n ma skin is dull now a days...n t zone getting tooo much oily...plz give me sme tips which product i shud use for fresh n fair skin...scondly reboundin is gud for hair or not...

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help? :)

I am wondering what product I can use for foundation since my skin is very dry and if I wear foundation it shows up as patchy. I am using MAC NC37 rite now so trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Also, can you recommend any treatment or remedies for dry skin?

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help? :)

Rebounding is very damaging for your hair. The results are impressive as you end up with sleek looking hair, however you have to weigh up the pros and cons and decide for yourself if you are willing to take the risk. A lot of people end up with bald patches because rebounding makes the hair weaker. I would recommend sticking to sligthly less damaging methods, i.e hair straightners....

For T zone, follow these steps
1.
Cleanse your face daily with a gentle cleanser, suitable for oily skin. Avoid alcohol based cleansers.

2. Oily skin makes its own lubrications but you should also moisturise it as well. Use water based moisturisers.

3. Make sure to use makeup that doesn't clog the pores and is oil-free.

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help? :)

I would suggest you test cliniques foundations. their supermoisture foundation is brilliant and gives a nice dewy finish. Before applying the foundation, always use a good moisturiser and give it a few minutes to settle into your skin properly, you can also use a foundation primer which will give a nice even finish. Try Loreals studio secrets primers, or you can use Mac's prep and prime.

To combat dryness in your skin, I would suggest drinking lots of water and using a rish moisturiser. Ponds, astral, nivea are all good moisturisers. Also you can use extra virgin olive oil, dab a cottonball in this oil and gently sweep it across your face at night times. It has worked wonders for me :D

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help? :)

How do you deal with huge round eyes GlossBlushLiner? what should be the best casual makeover for big eyes? I am not asking for the full fledged eye makeup for them. Just something near to natural. Also is internal kohl better or the one outlining the eye ?
thanks

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help?

Lining the inner rim of your eyes with black liner will make your eyes appear smaller. For everyday natural look I would suggest lining the top lid very thinly with a brown soft eye pencil and then smudging it so the line is even more subtle. Apply black or brown mascara on lashes. If you prefer, you can make rounder eyes appear more elongated by applying eyeliner in a winged out manner. see this pic http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://thebeautystop.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/angelina-jolie-eyeliner.jpg&imgrefurl=http://thebeautystop.com/ask-jane-liquid-eyeliner-application/&usg=__it9jNd8g67VwlRV65BUglkIPLac=&h=450&w=600&sz=36&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=BW1PRJRSbAazfM:&tbnh=158&tbnw=218&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dwinged%2Beyeliner%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1R2SVEC_enGB377%26biw%3D1076%26bih%3D498%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C37&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=658&vpy=209&dur=1304&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=96&ty=125&ei=JzKVTLjMM8jKjAeQntmwBQ&oei=BzKVTLbFN4reOMqdnYkJ&esq=3&page=1&ndsp=11&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:0&biw=1076&bih=498

Hope that helps.

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help? :)

^ same question but for small eyes.....my eyelids are droopy too...

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help?

for small eyes, i would suggest you lining half of your lid and extending it outwards and upwards to minimise the look of droopiness…also use white soft pencil liner to line the inner rim on your eyes…it makes the eyes look brighter and bigger. Lining your entire eye with dark liner closes the eye up and makes it appear even more smaller. So stick with a peachy toned light coloured eyeshadow and use eyeliner to give the impression of a bigger eye by linging it in outwards and upwards direction see this pic http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qayrW-d7b5s/Sa8Xo1bxsNI/AAAAAAAAKQg/u2o_sFU2HEc/s400/e7.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.imvu.com/catalog/modules.php%3Fop%3Dmodload%26name%3Dphpbb2%26file%3Dviewtopic.php%26p%3D8064070&usg=__xlHSoKifEM5gZvGu8c2XK_wzQYM=&h=359&w=400&sz=29&hl=en&start=281&zoom=1&tbnid=tr8hf4pk4Rf9sM:&tbnh=160&tbnw=166&prev=/images%3Fq%3Deyeliner%2Bstyles%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1R2SVEC_enGB377%26biw%3D1076%26bih%3D498%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C10923&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=135&vpy=87&dur=1011&hovh=213&hovw=237&tx=112&ty=118&ei=gwGWTN_7OMK5jAeVh8WfBQ&oei=7gCWTI32CeWHONrxtYgJ&esq=29&page=29&ndsp=10&ved=1t:429,r:5,s:281&biw=1076&bih=498

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help? :)

what kind of make up (colours) should i use with a shocking pink banarsi saari? specially on eyes and lips ... also suggest some good hair style as i have a round and broad face but straight long hair

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help? :)

Really nice to see you around:)

Whats your take on permanent blowdry?

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help? :)

Permanent blowdry = permanent damage to your hair!! Do not do it!! :)

Re: I am a Makeup Artist - How can i be of help?

I would suggest keeping very neutral with makeup, dont make the mistake of trying to match your nails, eyes, cheeks and lips with your saree - regardless of your skin tone, it will not look good!

For eyes, go for beige, browns and light peach colours. Keep the cheeks very light and add pink to oyur lips
