I see things differently, I think considering salary makes the parents practical-minded.
How much he makes is not the sole or even the primary deciding factor. His decency, character, education, religious observance are far more important, but I’m not going to lie and say that his salary or future prospects are dismissed as irrelevant - it does come into the conversation as well.
