my parents, grand parents and aunts and uncles always say miyan ko daba ke rakhna, ya dont show that you love him like he means the world to you. and that dont tell your husband everything because he will take advantage of you and phir main hi dabh jaongi poori zindagi uske hi samne. they say that i should make him feel that im better than him, i shouldnt praise him that hes good looking or shouldnt take advice from him about certain things because then my husband might think that hes worth more than me. If hes that bad then why did they get me married to him or to any other man.

i think quite a few girls enter marriage with exactly this kind of attitude. at least in pakistan. the pre-conceived notions ruin the marriage, and the pleasant experiences & surprises that the experience of marriage can hold.
