ummmm .......wasa to istekhara k 3 tareeka hain....but sub say easy tasbih wala istekhara hai.....shuru mai 3 bar darood parh kar dil mai apna sawal sochain par sawal aik he ho......or phir ankha bund kar k tasbhi ka aik dana pay ungli rakhain......phir ankha khol k us dana say 2 2 dana kar k chortay jaye......agar akhir mai aik dana bach jaye to han agar koi dana na bachay to nahe.....samajh na aye to dubara bata dou ga.

It is a Prayer to seek guidance from God Almighty when one intends to embark upon any important task or project, e.g; trade, journey, marriage, etc. The matter may be religious or otherwise. The purpose of this Prayer is also to seek God's help so that the outcome of the task in hand is successful.
Prayer is offered, before one goes to bed at night, in which Sura Fatiha is followed by Sura Al-Kafiroon in the first Rak'at and Sura Fatiha followed by Sura Ikhlas in the second Rak'at. During Qa'dah position after reciting At'tashahud, and Durood and some other Prayers, the following should be recited:

Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi'ilmika wa astaqdiruka biqudratika wa as' aluka min fadlikal 'azhim. Fa innaka taqdiru wala aqdiru, wa ta 'lamu wala a'lamu wa anta 'allamul ghuyub. A lot of people think you get an answer in a dream; but that's not necessarily the case. You should pray the 2 rakat and recite the dua, and go to sleep, with the intention and expectation that Allah will guide you in making the choice which is better for you. If it's a choice between two things for instance, you may feel more inclined towards one over the other. The bottom line is that it's a very humble dua to ask Allah to help you in whatever you're about to do, and inshaAllah there will be barkat and guidance in it. There isn't really a time limit or minimum days etc. since it's always beneficial to make a dua.
When it comes to Islam and personal issues, it's between you and Allah.
Let's say you had a personal issue with a loved one in life and you were unsure about what to do; you would ask friends for some advice on how to approach the situation, and then speak from your mind and heart, rather than trying to follow some cookbook recipe of what to do, right? Same way here, you have the guidelines of how the Prophet (saw) taught us what to do and the concept of 2 rakat and the dua, and you should follow that. Do that, and just pour your heart out to Allah.

No Offence but .. i ve seen this alot and known alot of people .. k waisey koi islami cheese pe amal nahi kartey, aur saal mein koi bhull bhulaa k aik do baar nimaaz parh letey hein .. aur dil chaahey to eid ki nmazein ..
lekin jab koi museebat ya fikr parhti hai te bhajjo chalo lets do an istikhaara …arey Istikhaara iss liye nahi hota hai .. har muaamlay mein hi kia jaaey … especially nowa days .. alot of girls do it ..to see shud they get married to this or that guy .. aur funny thing is ‘most’ of the time they ve already made their mind up that ..but just to clarify it they do istikhara .. and if i dunt turn out the way they want it .. they say the istikhara didnt work 
Anyways, Istikhaara is something not everyone is meant to do. To do istikhaara ..one of the condidtions is that your a practicing muslim ..aur your intentions are for the right reasons ..not to get a guy / or gurl .. etc ..
anyways, like i said … just a concern i wanted to express offending no one .. Yes i agree .. Not All muslims are as i mentioned k kabhi bhul bhula k nimaz parh li aur cheese cheese pe istikhara karo ..

mera matlab yeh hai k agar insaan apni 5 waqt ki namaazein, apney deeni maslay masaail jaanta/i ho aur uss par amal kartey hon ... to uss aadmi pe Allah ka khaas karam o fazal hota hai, blessings of Allah are always with them, Istikhaara etc ki zaroorat hi nahi parhti ..kiyon k jab insaan Allah ko har waqt yaad karta hai eg 5 times namaz, tahajjud, huzoor SAW pe Durood o salaam, Khidmat e khalq, choton baron ka ihtraam, etc.. to Allah SWT does NOT let get any harm or any trouble get in their way, Allah ki khass rehmat hoti hai uss person pe .. na ussey koi bimaari lagney ka andesha hota hai, na hi woh pershani mein mubtala hota hai kiyon k a person remebering Allah everystep of the way .. Allah SWT in return.. does the same ..Its a Hadith e Qudsi also.

no no am not being sarcastic...i really mean it that shud i ask some very religious person to do istikhara for me??because jab bhi mai kisi se poochti hun as if they know sumone who can do istikhara for me tou they say u can do it by urself...but i know u r rite one has to be a bit religious to do istikhara ..but i dunno abt any such person na...thats the problem:(

...well like i said ..depending on the niyat .. and whatyour problems are .. if your problem(s) are personal .. you need to find someone who is close and related to you ..cos you dunt want to tell your story to an ajnabi ..people i wud suggest is your mother, an auntie maybe, a cousin ..bearing in mind .. that the person who does it for you ..has to know EVERYTHING of what the istikhara is about.. and if its something personl you want guidence ...are you sure you wana tell em everything ...on the contrary, if aint personal .. you can ask a brother who is practising, father, cosuin a close friend maybe who are atleast practicing ..
however, Best suggestion i can give you is Pray Namaz 5 times and after Namaz Just do dua in the court of Allah Almighty to help you and guide you in every matter of the world and Aakhirat.

sorry I have never a personal experience to do Istakhara but this is the real islamic way to do it, and I think its not a dream things, you have to do it till your heart by the guidance of Allah to take the step u wana take or not...
I heard its like ke after reciting above mention prayers your mind reach on a rsult by Grace of Allah Talla. cant say how much days it took.

Neha i am syed muslim,and my family is of religious kind the point is i know this tareeka from my elders and this tareeka also present in JANTARI.at the moment i dont remember who told this istekhara but if your heart accepts is do it,BELIEF IS THE REAL STRENGTH .
Another type is by seeing the right path is the dream but its complicated,after ISHA prayer you have to read LA iLLAHA ILLAL LA HO a thousand times and DAROOD SHARIF 11 TIMES in the beginning and the end.
AND AND AND last but not least my UNCLE also do istekhara our whole family and relatives and people in surrounding ask him to do istekhara from them if you are interested i can ask him.....what you say????

As far as i know…yes one must pray 5 times a day and be a practicing Muslim…but if he or she isn’t then it doesn’t mean you tell them not to do istikhara at all..Allah helps those who turn to him with the right intentions no matter what because he is Allah yes he wants you to pray and be regular in your prayers and quran but still i think its wrong to say it on Allah’s behalf that He only helps those if you do this and that while this is not true even the non muslims duas are answered and heard even they live a lavish and good life if its was that way then this wouldn’t have been the case muslims would have been far ahead of anyone while the non believers no where…so when its between a worshiper and his lord then it should be between them only…rest its Allahs will whether he wants to guide them or not…i don’t know why people say such things even if it is for the betterment or help…one mustn’t discourage someone…but then again do check this video out..
- Secondly Istikhara can’t be done by anyone for you..because its you and only you who knows the real intentions behind a question or a query…you know how you feel etc so whoever says he can do it for you even if it is a very noble person i don’t think its right to get someone else to do the istikhara for you..try it yourself neha and Inshallah Allah will help you.

No offense buddy but this istikhara is not the right way to go about because if a tasbih has odd number of beads then the answer would be one (either just yes or a no) no matter what you ask for etc...and same if the tasbih has even numbers the answers are the same no matter what you ask for...
