These are the full season monsoon for Karachi after the last fell in 1994 - (from 30 June 1994 to 5 September 1994 it rained almost after every 5 days then).
Government can not stop the rain to fall whether it’s ppp or mqm or anyone else. But what they failed to prepare for it and won’t do anything afterwards as well. So many people died due to poor electricity system in the city. And now people will face chaos due to broken roads and system and the spreads of various diseases.

MQM may have been in charge of Karachi, but if they don’t get money to run the city then what can they do? In Mushy time they got good amount for development and we got underpasses and bridges to solve traffic problem. I believe lots of areas also received water-drain-system but then due to no-maintenance-funding those drainage system got clogged and now flood water is everywhere.

1994 was the longest season of rainfall. First started on 30 June and the last one was on September 5. That was a mix of moderate to heavy rains - the biggest one was cira 17 July. Those rains did a lot of damage then. In fact Karachi had a big rain in January already (heaviest of January 1994 ever - 4 inches in 2 hours).
This year has a similar pattern again.

Luv him or hate him, the truth remains that Karachi only took enough protection against rains/floods or any major development was done in Mustufa Kamal’s era. Yes, before that Naimatullah laid the foundation of it too so give him some credit as well.
But the way it worked was, American aid goes to musharraf, musharraf passes to Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad and he gives to Karachi Nazim.
Now Sindh govt for last 9 years has been the most incompetent and one of the most corrupt ones. They have neither any interest in resolving any issues nor a intention. So whoever is keeping any hopes, come back in reality

From the chart, this hardly qualifies for any torrential activity, in any given day the max it rained was 2.5 inches.

Though few years ago, I think when Mustafa Kamal was still mayor flood-drain system was in progress, but I believe due to no maintenance afterwards everything got clogged.

There was no major rainfall in MK’s era! One fell in the beginning of his era in 2003. Then some in 2007. But not like of this scale - in fact these rains in now parallel the devastating 1967’s 3 day downpour on July 25.

True that, but when it did rain in 2006 underpasses were getting flooded but then those were drained quickly, not sure what is happening with underpasses now.

I heard that all sorts of road are dug up in karachi so what is happening there? Forget flooding but why is garbage rotting in karachi? Can’t the sindh govt pick that up?
Karachi deserves to be its own province like southern sindh as PPP doesn’t do anything for not receiving votes not that they do much in interior sindh either. At least we would get rid of their rule in urban sindh.
Good thing that people didn’t identify themselves as sindhi like PPP wanted so they could muddy up the stats after the census. 52% of sindh’s population is urban and the percentage will only increase as industry attracts labor from rest of Pakistan and interior sindh remains in the neolithic age.

Not sure about ‘dug up’, but trash has been a problem, not getting picked up. PPP does not believe in cleanup, their minds are corrupted so they do not believe in cleanliness.
