hundreds, including 200 children held hostage in Russia

Very nasty :(

Apparently 13 of the perpetrators of this monstrosity have escaped. Neighbouring regions are sealing their borders but...

... how can you tell if someone on the run is a hostage taker?

The pictures are terrifying.

another victory for our brave mujahadeen! oops I meant to say don't judge Islam based on the actions of a few misguided muslims!

Which is it this time keyboard jihadis? You can't have it both ways, it's that simple.

Oh God, it is so terrible. These terrorists should be killed before they are born. Just nuke the entire place where these monsters come from and get it over with once for all. People who are still defending these actions of terrorists are doing so because Chechens are ‘white’, while they give middle finger to the poor Sudanese who are being killed and rapped by the Arabs. Just because they are Black.

you can't CONTROL the emotional stress of these children who ran. Two days of no food and little water is going to take its toll - horrible.

True, but Khattab said that regarding his time in Afghanistan. During that time, the whole world outside of the Communist bloc also thought that Bin Ladin was one of the Very Good Guys, and that he was a truly exceptional muslim during the Afghan Resistance is without doubt.

But there is no evidence that Khattab was in any way involved with Bin Ladin since the early 90s - they parted ways when Bin ladin still held very orthodox ideas, just as Bin ladin began falling under the influence of Ayman Al-Zwahiri.

Khattab remained in Afghanistan after the Resistance ended, whereas bin ladin went to Saudi Arabia and the Sudan. By the time Bin Ladin moved back to Afghanistan, Khattab had moved to Chechnya.

In short, during the time that Khattab knew Bin Ladin personally, I don't think you would find a single Muslim willing to speak ill of him at all. He was a pious Mujahideen leader and little more than that; that was the contect in which Khattab commented on Bin Ladin.

who said he said that during the afghan jihad? it was in the late 90s ill try and dig out the interivew altho it is in arabic the mujahideen in chechnya like imam shamil basayev all love usamah and the rest of their mujahid brothers till this day even with all that has happened. the muajhideen are united, they dont care about what the media says or what the muslims say they verify their news unlike many of us muslims unfortnatly who let our tongues loose without knwoing the situaiton or without any evidence, we forget we wil be held accountable for what we say may allah give us good manners, 1 thing the mujahids r not affected by what we say, we all have our opinion on them, our opinion is nothing cos we are not giving victory to islam, we make our homes amonst the kuffar and weep for the kuffar and their dead. and forget our own people. may allah guide us all ameen i just hope we all rpeent before we are taken to account for our stupidity and rashness in celarding other muslims deviant and lying upon them without any evdience. forgive me if i have said anything to offend any of u, as u all probablly know i do take the view the mujahids are the victroious group mentioned in the mutawatir narrations and i have my proof ot back up what i say, even if my bros and sisters disagree with me and each other, let us keep our manners we are a single brotherhood after all, let us act like that pls for the sake of allah

I think the Russians have figured it out…

Beslan Citizens Lynch One of the Terrorists

Beslan. Native population of Beslan in North Ossetia have tried to lynch one of the terrorists captured in the attack of Russian Special Forces, announced News Ru. A reporter of Sky News announced that a crowd kicked and tore his body apart in front of the building. Russian militants are afraid to get the terrorists put of the building because people might lynch them.

I know that he said it in the late 90s, but he was referring to the time when he knew Osama Bin Ladin, which was during the Afghan war. Khattab, as I recall, said that he did not have contact with Bin ladin but from his memeoried during their time together in Afghanistan during the Resistance he recalled Bin Ladin as being a good man. Having not met Bin Ladin since, he did not want to pass any other personal opinion on him.

Such a sorry scene. This cycle of violence will continue…no one learns.

God bless those who died :flower1:

Very tragic.

Unless someone in the media and world governments stops to ask why this happened and tries to address the issue behind this travesty it is likely to happen again.

No doubt the russian troops will kill more in chechnya (innocents inc) the world will stand idly by and then a few desperate individuals will be driven to new extremes.

So all this tv coverage is useless and frankly quite sick unless the russians try and prevent this from ever happening again, by trying to address the issues and not deal constantly with the fires and stoking them inbetween with their own actions in chechnya.

Everyone knows the Chechnyans are being treated unfairly, but come on, is this the way to show you are being oppressed?
Stupid idiots. This is not the way to get independece. What did the 800 people or so have to do with Russian army? 200 children? Man what kind of weed do these guys smoke?

I can't imagine the backlash in Russia after this. They should be angry they have every right too.

God willing the reports of 500 dead are wrong.

With the events that have occurred during the last 10 days in Russia its clear that dramatic changes will be forthcoming,

God willing the Russian government will find a solution to the Chechen crisis that will remove any possibility of extreme acts like this ever happening again.

Violence will only result in more violence, it's a tragedy that the young and innocent are ever involved and are the casualties of what is in essence mismanagement and disenfranchisement of a peoples on a grand scale.

I see pictures of Chechnya on the TV the place looks like the dark side of the moon, littered with craters and desolate, the ideal breeding ground for hate and insanity.

God willing something decisive fair and long reaching will be implemented, and hopefully we won’t see more reactionary violence from the Russian army, which will inevitably see more innocents killed on both sides.

very sad indeed...there are conflicting reports right now but bbc has reported scores of deaths.....innocent people are suffering..this terrorism stuff ( and i mean state terrorism too) is spreading like a cancer.....when army attacks, innocent people suffer and when terrorists attack, innocent people suffer again....it is about time all of us shoud stand up against this terrorism and should do whatever we can to get rid of this....

PD pretty much what I said, but how do you suggest we strike a balance and 'stand up to state sponsored terrorism'?

I wonder why the human rights watch reports don't get as much publicity from Chechnya, there is no balance at the moment. Lack of balance will ensure the status quo and may lead to more incidents like the one in the last few days.

This sickens me to the pit of my stomache, we hear and see things in the media, we are not often presented will lasting and just solutions for the prevention of such attrocities from the governments involved. I am hoping the Russian government will do it's population a favour this time and think hard at what's best for all it's people, muscovites and chechens alike and all in between.

There is no room for diplomacy with the likes of those responsible for taking children hostage, better intelligence and targeted hits is what needs improvement. The message must be clear, committing terror acts will not bring you closer to your goal. Eliminating those that are part of these groups and those that support these groups is what must be done while doing so in a fashion that doesn't reproduce more members than you take out, that is often the difficult part and is what needs to be worked on. Negotiating with these organizations is out of the question.

Think about the bigger picture UTD, these people are killed, then more rise up and kill more innocents, the Russian army goes in heavy handed and kills yet more rebels and innocents, which in turn ensures more extreme acts and before we know it we are at a Russian school again God forbid.

Unless people snap out of this cyclic thinking this and the Palestinian crisis will never end.

'targetted hits, better intelligence', don't you think the Russian forces have been doing all they can militarily since Putin came to power on that promise. It is safe to say it didn't and hasn't worked, check out the news!

To be honest I don't know the ins and outs of the chechen situation, the call for independance must have a strong pull factor, but push factors too, better people than me are in positions of power to do something lasting about this that ensures the safety of the total Russian population, I hope they are heard and something other than military solutions and seriously considered, it may be the only chance to ensure this type of brutal act never happens again.

It's old but true, the cycle of violence has to be broken. And then something lasting has to be done to make the conditions for the growth of such extremism difficult if not impossible.
