hun nahi kernee gael...

bus khe ditta nahi kerni gael.
Punjabi is not rude language, it may be too intonated at times, like other languages are, but it is not rude. is it?

Re: hun nahi kernee gael…

Tuwaano kinney kya ay k Punjabi rude zubaan ay :emmy:

Re: hun nahi kernee gael…

but its sophisticated:bummer:

Re: hun nahi kernee gael...

For knowledge, it is always good to know as many languages as possible. As for punjabi being rude, you first have to define what is rude accordig to Quran & Sunnah. If addressing father/mother by tu or tussi or twanoo is considered rude in Islam, then yes punjabi is rude. If not, then no, punjabi is not rude.

Re: hun nahi kernee gael...

That's why there are 2-3 levels of addressing people, just like in urdu. tu, tum, aap. That doesn't make Urdu rude either. Point is that no language is rude, it's how you use/speak it.

Re: hun nahi kernee gael...

Is Punjabi a lingo thesedays?

Re: hun nahi kernee gael…

I think you missed my point :smilestar:

Re: hun nahi kernee gael…

you can swear in hawaiian and it would still sound like someone’s giving you their blessing :hula:

ok i dunno i’m just random flooding :o

Re: hun nahi kernee gael...

i dont think it is rude. but people may make it soud like it is rude.

like, if i were to now say,' tusii sarey loki kee rola metchan lageyee ho? kyoon nahi Punjabi dadee zubaan ho sakdee? enna mitha laban dee lar koe nahi heigee... gal kernee heye tey karo, werna puj jao ithoon? tussi lokan nu ulamey na peijen dee zaroret pave, semhj legey gee tusaan lokan nu, teye chunga hovey ga.'

how would you interpret this?
short, sweet, to the point or aggressive and bordern line rude?

i think the language is pretty cool, it needs to be spoken more politely.
any thoughts?

Re: hun nahi kernee gael…

It must be spoken softly. I’ve seen some of the Pakistani Punjabi movies and then I have seen some of the Indian Punjabi movies. TOTALLY 2 different things. Pakistani Punjabi movies are all about yelling, screaming, while Indian Punjabi movies are very softly spoken as intelligent and educated people should speak Punjabi. I am sure they resemble in villages etc. but I don’t know about Indian villages.

HHL I got your point, I was just saying that no language is rude, it depends on US how we speak it :smilestar:

Khumar reminds me of the joke ASN posted where 2 arabic people were fighting with each other and this Pakistani dude stood by and started saying Ameen.

Re: hun nahi kernee gael...

^^ haha it's like my mom was telling me how when she was a kid if they heard something in arabic, anything they would think it's the quran and stand there respectfully :p

Re: hun nahi kernee gael...

Shikra:

Ever heard the one they use a lot in Stage shows? 2 pakis went to dubai and one of them read something that was written in arabic on the wall and he started kissing it. Then the other person slapped him and said "Maama, bait-ul-khlaa likhya aye"

:D

Re: hun nahi kernee gael...

agree with hum hein lajawab and also Shikra.

you bring a good point Shikra about the relative correlation of being educated and being polite.

i have not ever seen any punjabi film except may be trailers that came on tv back in Pakistan ages ago, so i cant compare pubjabi films across the border.

it is true that many villagers can and do speak polite pubjabi.

Re: hun nahi kernee gael...

I would recommend that you check out Indian Punjabi movies, especially of Harbhajan Mann. His movies are very good, family oriented, and about particular issues.

HHL man, punjabi stage shows are hillarious :D

Re: hun nahi kernee gael...

Dushi:

Ab movie ka zikar aa hi gaya hai to watch "Mahol Theek hai"

One hilarious movie that you can watch with the whole family. It's Indian punjabi.

Shikra:
Yaar phir bhi wo pehle wali baat nahi rahi stage shows mai.

Re: hun nahi kernee gael...

^ alright brothers, i shall watch the movies at your recommendation. :>

Dushwari

Re: hun nahi kernee gael…

Re: hun nahi kernee gael…

Hehe nahi yaar. I watched it many years ago with my family. It was a good movie :clown:

Re: hun nahi kernee gael...

Tusi and tovanu equal aap in punjabi.
Perfectly fine to address your elders by those.
