ok, i am NOT from a punjabi background, so here is my (outsider) opinion.
the way pujabi is spoken sounds cool... there's a frankness about it, i like the way it flows :) wish i could speak it.
But as far as the "adab" type families go in karachi, it may seem rude BECAUSE of the frankness. Most karachiites would never use tum to their elders, and tussi (to us) seems even lower then that.
Let me clarify this b4 ppl misunderstand me and start calling me a racist... i dont think punjabi is rude!!!
the apparent rudeness (if any) comes from the notion of how things are said. My punjabi family friends would say "teda ki haal hai?", but the urdu speaking ones would say "aap kese hain?"
