Look at dramas like Dhoop Kinare, where romance was depicted without a single hugging and kissing scene. It was beautiful, in fact so creative, unlike Bollywood movies where everything is so explicit and in your face. Now, the drama themes are all twisted...extra marital affairs, cheating, divorces, yukky scenes and everything horrible you can imagine. Perhaps our society is enjoying all of it.
i can totally relate to that! a friend’s 4 yr old was singing and humming ‘munni badnaam hui’ recently and i almost collapsed with shock, and this is the same woman who thought pak tv was getting too ‘modern’
our quality dramas don’t have these offending scenes anyways, they are primarily taking on family issues and those issues have changed from 10 or 20 yrs ago though, divorces and affairs unfortunately have become a part of our culture/society now. i have yet to see any offending scenes in the dramas i have watched recently or the ones being discussed actively on this forum. soaps that use these cheap tactics to attract viewers fail miserably anyways so let them die a slow death by NOT watching this stuff, its that simple.

HOw old is Dhoop KInaaray? @20 yrs?? Lets get real here and lets move on plsss!
"yukky scenes and everything"??? REally? What dramas are you watching? Perhaps, you are confusing them w/ Z TV or some othr Indian/ BOllywood stuff! Aik hug or sleeveless pay jaan jaati hay but bollywood vugarity sab shauq say daikhtay hain! I guess that's what every1 wants to see! lol
I am totally not into Bollywood But yeah, see the last episode of dil hai chota sa, there was a scene that could be totally avoided.
I wasn’t trying to compare Pakistani dramas with Bollywood (for you really can’t compare anything to that junk)…I was actually comparing today’s dramas to those of the yesteryears. Things have changed a lot.
That, exactly is the problem we are facing. The dramas of yester-years that you are comparing are from the time of Mard-e-Momin Zia-ul-Haq. At the time, censor board forced these kind of things that husband and wife characters could not be shown even holding hands, mother and son could not hug, men and women madly in love could not come closer than ten feet…
Dramas about love between men an women, married characters, mother and son, father and daughter will have characters hugging each other, holding hands and embracing etc. because that is what humans do naturally.
The other legacy of the Zia time s off course to continue to enjoy any garbage bollywood may produce but treat it as acceptable because it is produced by somebody else. This way the demand for garbage has continued to increase and it is considered ok as long as it met by the dirty Indian not by the pure Pakistanis…
Crimes, cheating, affairs, marriages, divorces, love stories, girlfriend/boyfriend stories are what dramas and movies are all about. These are the plots of good plays and novels. People have gotten used to seeing a sanitized version of Pakistan on TV when in reality all kind of social evils are present in Pakistan and they will not just disappear by ignoring them. Ignoring the social evils only helps increasing them, highlighting them increases awareness against them.

What ever you say, that was a good thing cause that really brought out the creativity of the directors and writers of those dramas. I mean did you miss the romance in Dhoop Kinaaray or Ankahi just because hero/heroine could not hug each other?

completely agree.. Dhoop kinare is my all time favorite drama!
indian songs are everywhere. but wat i found both funny and strange when i saw dolly ki aaig ge barat team practicing dance on this very song in their serial. even though it added humor element to drama, it could hav been avoided. .
a kiss is offensive. skimpy dressing is offensive and awkward. but hugging is very innocent
maybe since i dont watch dramas i dont know how these hugs are carried out but when someone says "hugging" i think of an innocent little hug
The irony being that these people will defend to death and are huge fans of "SUPER BEST BESTEST" indian movies. These people are idiots. This is how pakistan is.
