Well, scope of this thread is linguistics but I was kidding as you know so many maadrn people on that forum. They won't like to hear someone saying he/she hates these terms :p

yeah , I dislike these terms as well. I think the most genuine manner to addressing a spouse is either " my husband" or " my wife " or a more formal approach like " my better half" or " my significant other" .. In the Uk we use DH ( Dear husband ) a lot too , I guess it seems better then the usual hubby/wifey thing !
