FC go via email. They do not have an outlet in USA so they'll be shipping it from Pakistan I suppose. I asked the price for one of the outfits which was for Rs. 40,000. Even though the outfit is very pretty I find the price ridiculously high. I would have paid up to 15,000 for it but 40,000 just for a party outfit is way too much for my budget.

I would never pay this much specially for a wedding dress. I am sure there are many copy cat designers who would sell almost same dress for lot less.

Jal_PAri it wasn't even a wedding dress. I dread to think how expensive their wedding dresses must be if a shalwar qameez is worth rs. 40,000. Im sure they are all atleast close to a hundred thousand or then above.

Its the price you pay for a brand label~ once a designer makes it big, you pay more than 60% of the price just for their name :)

But isn’t it also about quality as well? Don’t designers have better quality than say the cheap main bazaar ones?
Like it’s more unique and don’t some designers also include a matching bag and shoes too ? 
I know if i were a designer, my stuff would be original, ure not gonna see 8-10 brides wearing the saem exact color/style

My boutique would make wedding dresses AND jaheez items with matching purses....there was no designer but they would copy any style you wanted.

Okay how would it be if u designedur own wedding dress? I.e. the silk, color, amt/type of kaam u want etc.. how long wud the whole process take and wud it be expensive?

Almost any zari house can custom design your wedding dress with you. Or you can go to a designer, but a designer will be wary of you dictating to them what you want. Generally, they'll show you what they have and make changes from their samples. Either way, expect to pay a little more and you'll need at least two months to have your outfit completed.
When I got married years ago, I had my dress totally custom designed. I picked the fabric, helped design the kaam, etc.

for my wedding lengha..i chose different items from different lenghas...like the colour of one lengha...then wanted the kaam from another lengha, and another kind of kaam from another lengha, etc...it was fun..bascially i designed the lengha myself..and all they did was sew/make it for me...even got a matching bag and arm band thing as well....
and i wouldnt guarantee that all designer things are one of a kind..unless you request it and would pay the money for it.....
and you can alwasy wear ur lengha again..i did on my bro's wedding..one of my friends used her wedding lengha kameez as a blouse and made a really nice matching sari with it...it was beautiful...

See quality is almost relative now- so many people fuss about what they want but in the end its the price point that is the final factor for them. I have seen really good designer stuff and really horrible ones also. The experience of working with a designer though is nice... i went to Meeras by Nilofer Shahid in lahore last year where my best friend was getting her stuff made and the process was really nice. One on one, no crowds to deal with, no pushy salesmanship cause designers know when you go to them its for the exculsivity and they are not working on commission. Of course she had a budget of 3 lacs in which she got her shaadi jora, 4 formals and 1 semi formal and perhaps if she had gone to a zari house she could get 10 formals, 3 semis and one shaadi jora and all but that was her call.
The good thing about a true designer is that if they feel that a color combo or a design change will look bad they will tell you honestly cause they dont want their repute to be at stake. That does not happen at zari houses, they only care about sales- you can walk in with a ripped picture from a magazine where the model is a skinny tall thing and get it made for your self when you are fuller and shorter and they would never say it may not work! Not a risk i would take especially since i know that fashion designing is not my field of expertise-
BTW now matching bags are common with any bridal purchase designer or not and if you want an arm band they throw that in too.

^ Hmmm interesting points… well from what you said, the only thing that appeals to me is the personal stuff.. i hated shopping in pak, the pushing and shoving and then the fighting over price A boutique sounds nice, wher ethey giv u personal attention.. (i love being center of --good–attention )..
Yr right, it does help when one knows their body and complexion and style very well, that they know what color and style would suit them.. I know what I like and sometimes, what will suit me If you don’t know that, then u should get a friend or something, or just refer to shweetdreamz thread 
For weddings over here, the bride (gori weddings) will buy a dress and then go for several fittings severla times before the wedding, to make sure everything is perfect.. And how much in $$ is 3 lacs?

Sara its not too much its about 5000 USD. I aggree taking a friend is nice but dont take a platoon, too many people with you would result in utter confusion cause there would be too many ideas and suggestions floating around ;)

im very picky in clothes...and i know what i like and what looks good on me...and most pple say i have good taste (they trust me to buy their clothes)..but i hate depending on other pple for clothes...especially my mom and MIL..their tastes are so different than mine...therefore i dont mind goign to regular store...why would i pay double for a lengha that most pple would see at a distance (if im sitting on a stage)...and a regular lengha would look nice (in pics and stuff)....the money i would have saved, i coudl buy a nice gold thing or even better..tons of shoes and purses!!!!
