She is one of my friend's friend.. I heard she got the design copied at somewhere in Karachi and it costed her even less than 50k! I love her dress.. it has stones and so much work on it, looks absolutely beautiful!
Re: HSY bridal
Do any of you have contact info for people who can get dresses made for engagements/weddings/parties, etc? Like if send them designs, can they get those made in Pakistan? My cousin is getting married in the summer and is looking to get some outfits copied from designer sites and since she won't be able to go to Pakistan herself.
Re: HSY bridal
I met this lady–Sophia Muneeb-- when i went to pakistan last year…i liked a dress in the magazine and asked her to make one for me… here s a picture of it…the girls on my left and right are wearing Karma dresses i am in the middle…she did a wonderful job…i guess this is what made me change my mind…and i am going to have my rukhsati outfit made from her…

Re: HSY bridal
oooo groovychick…the third one is quite popular…hmmmm…i like the 2nd one…it reallly stands out!! thanks…lovely pictures..
i still cant get comfortable with the idea of spending $6000 on a dress… yikess!
Re: HSY bridal
Hijab’s 2nd one is absolutely smashing…
i have the material…mom and i always buy our material from here…(dallas Kay fabrics) and then mail it off with the picture/design…i have saved about 6 potential pictures and now i am going to sit down and make up my mind…if i send it off sometime in jan…i ll get it back…(along with other outfits i want) around summer…that leaves room for any alterations and adjustments…since the reception is in Dec 2008… ![]()
lets just pray it all turns out well…(ameeeen)
Re: HSY bridal
the maroon bu HSY is really very nice its just the lightening effect which is making it dull.
i agree...theres is something about the kaam..makes it look very "mughlayee" (*spelling)
plus it is not too heavy...something i can definitely wear later on...
Re: HSY bridal
i'll post pics of prettier maroon HSY ones, chanda, so you can have some more options. for the first two you posted, be careful with your measurements because the lehenga's are quite fitted and its sometimes harder to make if you're not there and the tailor hasn't measured you themselves.
yeah...i know..for the fitted ones..they require...5-6 measurements of your hip area....excluding the waist...all a couple of inches apart...but since..i am not getting a fitted lehnga...i just like the style of the work....so i am getting the white one made...but with a regular style lehnga...

i don't know if i personally like the color combination, but i do like the lehnga design on it :)
Re: HSY bridal
i like this pink…but i think the outfit would look pretty with a pink and gold churidar pajama…

yup, i can send you the number of the lady who made my stuff. she did an excellent job- my mehendi gharara was a copy of a karma gharara and not only was it very reasonably priced, the kaam is stunning.

oh i meant, get it copied, don't go for the original :)
Re: HSY bridal
^^ yeah......i must.... :)
oh and i have a 10 dress limit...haha..if i add this pishwas...i will have to cut down on the lehngas...hmmmm..i already have 3 on my list...so i am thinking of dropping one and adding a pishwas... :)
Re: HSY bridal
Thanks SGC! Does she get it made in Karachi? I mean how does the process work?

Kya main itniee farigh hoon ![]()
That was a rhetorical Q =/
Re: HSY bridal
Thanks SGC! Does she get it made in Karachi? I mean how does the process work?
yeah, she has two workshops- one in karachi, one in lahore. you send her the design you want and the fabric that you want, and she takes over from there and has her people make it. when its done, she parcels it to you. i wrote her a three page design document because i'm pretty anal about some things and i outlined specifically the kind of work i wanted (beading, threadwork, diamantes, no zari or other stuff like that), and the colours i wanted based off a swatch that i had, etc. i can send it to you to check out, if you want. when she saw it, she was like, this thing is so freakin' detailed, even a blind person could make this outfit! hahahaha :P
having said that, i had no idea about patterns but i wanted something similar to the picture i had sent, which she did. for my mehendi outfit, the pic wasn't a close up so i had no idea what kaam was on it, but her people are so skilled and she herself has such great taste that when i did see it, i was blown away. i would never have thought of the kind of kaam she did and it looked gorgeous. so its pretty safe to trust her with these things.
the best way to make sure she, or anyone else for that matter, gets the right colours is to send swatches... for instance red from a pic might look different to you and different to me and different to her. if, on the other hand, you sent her a swatch of the red you want, its super easy for her to get the fabric dyed the exact same shade. essentially, i find in this process that the more detailed you are and the more groundwork you do, the less possibility there is of being surprised by the finished product- and not in a good way. in my case, the outfit turned out even more beautiful than i had envisioned in my head, which was a great feeling, but it was also completely recognisable as the outfit i had wanted-- if that makes sense?
she recently hired two of karma's kaarigar and i think that speaks a lot about her quality. she is based out of defence so if you have any family, they can go meet her in person. my parents went and met her to check on my mehendi and wedding dresses so i know she's a nice person too.
the only issue i had was timing- i got my outfit a month before my wedding which was a bit later than i would have liked. to solve this issue, i would tell her your wedding date is a month before it actually is.
