Wellllll the only problem is that :)
i am not going to pakistan...and i have to do everything...from here (texas)
so in other words.....a ready made is a better option for me...since i cant go to the darzi everyday to check on how it is being done....
The lady i got my Nikah dress made from....she texted me saying she has many clients who mail her the material and a photo of stuff they want made...and she mails them the end-product....i mean i trust her and everything....but i dont know....i like her work...so should i just mail the HSY dress photo with the material...and pray that i comes out great.....has anyone heard of Sophia Muneeb in Lahore....? i like her...i dont know if you guys have heard of her... :)
if you are satisfied with the lady's work, then i think it would be safe to go with her again. i think she would be able to get the same work done if you show her the pic.
there is this store on MM Alam road in the plaza there...3D something (so sorry i can't remembre the whole name). My cousin's got some connection with the guy who gets the work done for that boutique...she shows him the pic and if she wants any modifications those are done and the end product is amazing. So all in all i think it would be ok to get the work copied by someone you can rely on

hmmmm interesting...so are you saying..this happens alot...??
More people actually end up getting the designer dress made from someone at a reasonable price..? but how does the quality difference weigh in.....i mean...i know that i will be mailing the material...no matter who i get it made from...i shopped everywhere in Lahore for good material...and no matter how expensive...it looks 2nd hand after washing just once....i know a really nice place in dallas...they have the finest lace...brocade and jamavar..and kamkhab...it costs an arm and a leg but its....to die for...
yup…really a lot. great copies walking around in lahore.
the material you have to provide yourself ofcourse. i’ve noticed the more money you shell out, the better material you can get. since it’s going to be a bridal dress, the raw material for it is going to be expensive no matter what, but i would rather spend the money than get a knockoff of jamawar or something. if you are going to be dyeing a fabric make sure you get a good dyer, since the color tends to “seep” out on to your skin. but again since it’s a bridal dress you’d probably get it dry cleaned considering all the work that goes on it. so the main thing then is the quality of the kaam. if you get it done from a good place, it should stick around until the end of function. make sure you tell them to actually sew stuff like beads and other nags, cuz most of the time to save money they are glued on. sequins and beads and other stuff though are usually sewed on pretty good. i got a shalwar kameez made and it cost me like 5000 Rs, including the material and kaam on it, but since it was done by someone reliable, so far luckily none of the beads or the diamonty stuff has come out.
i got quoted $6000 for one of HSY's bridal ghararas... sorry but no designer, no matter how fab, is getting six grand of my hard-earned money that i could use for a honeymoon instead! :P
i'd say go to Karma instead... i think their work is nicer and their prices might be more reasonable.
Oh GOD!
6 grand!! for a dress...i was thinking it would be around 2 max...but thats just too much...
i am getting the maroon made...but the material i bought..is very lively... :) so it will look a little more flashy...than the picture...(its irani kamkhab..they call it kamkob) its just gorgeous....
i am also getting a sari made..(the yellow and red one on HSY's website)...i bought the material and im going to get lots of kaam done on it....ill post a picture...
and yes...the white lehnga is definitely on my list...since i ll be saving a lot of money not getting it from HSY...i have decided to get 3 made...
oh really, honestly the maroon one is nothing special. i think you should not. i can show you many pics of much nicer/more unique things you can have copied
these are NILOFER SHAHID she is amazing. if you can't go to her she is very epensive then just have them copied by someone VERY GOOD , but if you can afford her she will start lowest at 5k american GO TO HER she is in lahore
her designs really are one of a kind...and i have bought tons of lace already.....i am going to get one made...thank you so much for your input... :)
i dont know when ill be going to lahore..but is there any way i can get a catalog or something of her work?
i'll post pics of prettier maroon HSY ones, chanda, so you can have some more options. for the first two you posted, be careful with your measurements because the lehenga's are quite fitted and its sometimes harder to make if you're not there and the tailor hasn't measured you themselves.
