HP TouchPad - WebOS

I just saw the video for the TouchPad and I was blown away with the device. Even though they are very late in the tablet market they do have a great a great product and has a lot of potential. Check out the video:

Re: HP TouchPad - WebOS

wow…how much is it for?

Re: HP TouchPad - WebOS

Prices seem to be the same as iPad, $499 for 16 GB for starter

Re: HP TouchPad - WebOS

webos is history.

Re: HP TouchPad - WebOS

This is where all the tablets are going to miss the boat. They need to come up with better pricing the Ipad. No one is going to buy another tablet than Ipad for the same price.

Re: HP TouchPad - WebOS

^ c’mon TLK don’t turn into an apple fanboy and discount the needs/expectations/preferences of an entire other consumer segment. I personally think there’s ample opportunity for people who don’t want to be bound by the limitations of an iPad… so manufacturers that offer additional or missing functionality still have a lot of potential. I know at least five or six people who returned the iPad and opted for a playbook or a transformer and I’m pretty sure there are many others who did the same.

I’m not saying that the iPad aint good, but everyone’s preferences are different.

Re: HP TouchPad - WebOS

I’m actually one of those people (so you can make it six or seven people) who would like to return the iPad and get that Transformer.

But I’d NEVER opt for the playbook. Its supposed to be for enterprise level clients and it doesn’t even have an email client. Totally useless. The OS has some desirable features but still NO.

Re: HP TouchPad - WebOS

Ouch! I hope no one bought this one - I can’t fathom why HP’s pulling the plug on the Touchpad so soon after its launch. Did they really not expect low sales - after all, tablets are a niche market to begin with and the niche was pretty saturated.

Re: HP TouchPad - WebOS

HP is going to abandon WebOS. they are performing very poor in tablet pad sales. :bummer:

there are tablets still @ 99

Re: HP TouchPad - WebOS

webOS is a flop.

Tablet debate will continue for long.. though. People either love apple or they love to hate apple

and dont get me started on playbook though… An enterprise level product with NO email client? what were they thinking?

Re: HP TouchPad - WebOS

who cares about webos, it’s all about hardware .. boot it with andriod and voila !

Re: HP TouchPad - WebOS

Got my first TouchPad, 32GB version.

First impressions: a bit heavy out of the box (maybe I’m used to the iPad and the other, lighter Android devices). But it does have a good feel to it.

The interface is different than the other platforms and didn’t feel as intuitive. The HP App Catalog (AppStore) has a decent amount of apps (I thought it would be totally barren).
Touch and feel is good and looks very solidly built. I’m working on getting some audio/video files on it to see how it feels. Overall I’d give it 7/10 for now
