Re: How you make Chai?

None otehr than Tapal danedar (Emergency backup Tetley British Blend tea bags)
For 1 cup chai,

Boil 3/4 cup water
Add sugar
Add 1 tsp tapal danedar
Add 1/4 or even less carnation evaporated milk

Bring it to couple of boils and then enjoy :chai:

Re: How you make Chai?

hmmm

brand, tetley, lipton, twinnings, pgtips, in that order

boil water,
put tea bags in a teapot
add water
cover teapot with a tea cosy
let it brew for 3 minutes
pour in cups, offer as is with sugar cubes and cream on the side.

Re: How you make Chai?

:hmmm:

Always Tetleys, Twinings range (Assam, Lapsang Souchong, Darjeeling Keemun, Yunnan etc) and any chinese tea (pu-erh etc).

Can’t stand PG Tips or Lipton.

Early Grey tastes like socks. Not that i have tasted socks, but i assume that is how they taste.

Re: How you make Chai?

You ave to drink Earl Grey without cream :smack:

I pour bioling water into a cup with a teabag. Cover for a min or so. Serve with sugar and cream. I don’t cook my tea.

Shame on you english woman, making fun of Earl Grey out of all the things.

Re: How you make Chai?

Ahem…i’m British Nikki daahlink…we invented Afternoon Tea..:snooty:

Earl grey and milk is a big no no…but even without milk, it tastes blech :bummer:

Re: How you make Chai?

Niki was not questioning, she was telling. No one drinks Earl Grey with milk.

:5: :faizy: :cheer:

Cook…you mean like in a milkpan? :hmmm:

I only do that for Mr Maroush when he has his evening “doodh patti”..(how he can drink that everyday i have no idea)… otherwise it’s always a kettle.

a tea is not a tea untill you cook it :snooty:

I think the tea in tea bags is meant for brewing, not boiling. My experience is that you bring extra bitterness in tea when you boil it vs when you let it sit in the water that is slowly losing its heat.

TLK bro…apne mere hath ki bani howi chaye nahi try ki abhi tak isliye aesa keh rahe hain :p..jab try kar ke dekhe ge to kahe ge ke waqee maine Sahi kaha tha :emmy:

I am sure Kinzz your tea must be great, unfortunately I am not the tea person at all. I drink coffee.

:smack: But he drinks Tetley for chaah, Earl Grey just for the heck of it, without the cream of course

Re: How you make Chai?

I use jivraj.

Re: How you make Chai?

I'm not big on tea, but when I have it, it has to be proper desi (ie. cooked) chai.

For a cup:

Half a cup of water, and half a cup milk. Bring to a boil, and add tea (loose or bag). Let it simmer for a couple of min, cover and let stand for another few minutes. Sometimes I add sugar while it's boiling.. other times, just add at the end.

I don't like tea, I love coffee (espresso's)

But if I ever have chai, it's 'masala' chai with elaichi, cinnamon etc.

Re: How you make Chai?

Ask the woman of the house.

Simple yet effective.
