we use lipton and earl grey normally. i like pg tips better than lipton, but they are pricey here.

but we're lazier so we use tea bags. my parents and inlaws have their own specific blend of loose black teas.

boil water
rinse tea pot with it
add tea
stir
brew
stir again
heat milk
pour milk into tea cups
add tea
hubby and i don't take sugar, we would add sugar at this point

I use a tea-ball and loose tea, like it better than teabags.. Simply add boiling water from kettle to it, cover and let sit for two-three mins..and then add milk let it sit for another min.. and that’s it..remove tea-ball enjoy the chai..:chai:

and yea sometimes I do have doodh-patti as well.. desi istyle khoob karhi hoi :chai:

There are many good brand , whatever I can find on the shelf.

With doodh patti you can never go wrong.

My BIL makes the best chai!!!! I generally only drink tea in sardiyon ka mausam, but if he's making it, I'm drinking and he showed me his trick.

After bringing the water to a boil, he adds one teabag per cup of water in the teapot, adds a quarter teaspoon sugar and lets steep for 5 minutes. Serve with milk and sugar.

I have a funny story about it. A few months ago a family came to see my younger sister and my BIL knows my tea is hit or miss and that I prefer his. He was itching to come into the kitchen and make the tea, lest we serve badmazaa chai. He restrained himself. Later he says to me, "I was going to offer to make the chai, lekin main kitchen may nahin aaya yeh soch kar kay larkay walon pai kitna ghallat impression parta agar woh dekhtein, kai damaad se chai banwaya jaraha hai."

I had a good laugh at that.

BTW, I use Tetley!!

I do not like to make chai in Microwave. I also do not like to boil bags in hot water. I heat up my kettle and pour the water in the tea mug with bag already inside the cup, let it brew for a minute, then add sugar and cream.

and no ilaachi, saunf, zeera, adrak, lassan or stuff like that in my tea. Just simple plain tea.

BTW my favorite is Earl Grey on Caffeinated side and Chamomile on the Herbal side.

I use lipton, and i add a hint of vanilla creamer.... I love sooper cookies with chai!!!
