Istikhara can be subjective because you can take the sign you see in your dream or in real life and interpret it differently than it was meant to be interpreted. Oh and yeah, I think really only real spiritual people can do it right.

Oo me and my cousin were talking the other night, she said someone has to do istikhara for u n i told her no anyone can do it for themselves, coz the beauty of Islam is that u do things on ur own, rather than going through middleman, having others do it for you… my bad :bummer:

Maybe they have changed their mind and using "istikhara" as a decent way to reject the proposal.

So in reality, no Quranic references. There is NO mention of Istikhara in the Quran, hmm, perhaps God forgot?

Istikhara needs to be done for 7 days...its not a dream necessarily.

Its the feeling you get from it.

**NOTE: **You have to be neutral when performing it, you cant already be swayed to the decision you wanna make.

As far as i have read i think the Prophet :saw: sort of ordered Hazrat Ali to do istikhara about every thing… i don’t see anything wrong in it… You r just asking for help from Allah to help u make the right decission.
Secondly its an easy thing if u learn it from somebody knowledgeable… won’t take more than 10 mins to know the ins and outs… Just like learning anything from a teacher makes it lot easier than trying to understand it by using ur own hit and trial method.
Not knowing namaz, is also due to the reason we feel that we can learn religion on our own, its always good if u become a pupil of any knowledgeable religious teacher to understand these basic islamic teachings. Best is that u should have parents who atleast knows the basics of islam thoroughly and convey it to u properly.

i don’t want to offend but SHOULD we make judgement about this without knowing the turth.? Maybe they really have got negative istikhara, maybe its wot u think is right… but should we not take the positive side and try to keep our mind off from making negative impression of other ppls and families just based on our own assumptions.?

If that decision came after they made istikhara, i couldn't blame them. If I had any doubts, I would have them ask an alim to do it for them too. Whatever comes after that, I would accept, no more questions asked.

Y did they do the istakhara after some time? It should have been done at the beggining, its not fair on both individuals coz they probably established some kind link with one another.
