Re: How would you react…
Almost all of us do many things in our lives simply based on how we feel or “just because”. Whether it makes sense or not…the fact remains that many of our decisions are made without any rational/solid basis behind them. Although you may be a rare exception to that. ![]()
Firstly, regarding dating. Would I be ok with my kids having a different BF/GF every few months and having sex with almost half the town? No. Would I be ok with my adult children dating men or women with the purpose of being in a long-term relationship that will hopefully lead to a lifelong marriage? Absolutely!
Secondly, from what I know, being 21 is a requirement (at least here) to get into strip clubs. I hope by the time my children are 21 or older, they’re capable of making mature/good decisions, and are living on their own. I don’t plan on keeping tabs on their daily moves (including social ones) once they become adults. What am I going to do if I find out my adult son went to a strip club? Ground him? Lock him in his room? Besides, do you know any man (or woman) who actually talks about their “strip club adventures” with their parents?!
For what its worth, My values/beliefs/morals/tolerance is very different than what my parents believe in. My parents don’t always agree with what I do or the decisions I make for myself. But they have always made it clear to me that they will love me no matter what. They have never once made me feel that I’m any less simply b/c I made a choice that they don’t agree with. In the future, I don’t expect my children to follow my beliefs/values/morals like a robot. I’m sure there will be times when their decisions/choices will dissappoint me and make me angry. But at the end of the day, my love for them will be unconditional.
