How would you react if the one you love & cared for was talking to you about getting married to another ?

This goes for married as well as unmarried girls.

Been there, done that.

You respect that he has other interests, and keep the relationship platonic. It doesn't work? Avoid him and move on. He confronts you, let him know how you feel, and then deal with it when he gets all weird on you.

Oh dear, I am beginning to sound more and more like Liz Lemon from 30 Rock. Maybe you girls are right - I'm single and bitter. :(

If he was talking to you about getting married to someone else who is his gf then i think i would stay out of it. Let it be. However if he has not got anyone special in his life then maybe joke with him and let him know how you feel. You have nothing to lose...

Hmmm, LP.....is this guy just talking "generally" about getting married.......or is actually in a relationship with a particular girl that he plans to marry?

If it's the former situation where he's only speaking hypothetically......there might be a chance for you. HOWEVER......if it's the later situation......then i think it would be better for you to congratulate him and work on moving on with your life. Try to occupy yourself with various positive activities. Maintaining a distance from him might help faciliate the process of moving on.

I will tell you this real story. It happened with me, dude got phone nikkahed, the person I loved that is, 6 months later he got a divorce and is back on the scene. Very unusual case innit.

I read it some where and totally agree, it said something like , the worst kind of missing someone is when you are sitting just next to him and you know he is not urs.

as pcg said, I too have been there. I didnt say anything rather gave him the best suggestions i could give. I prayed for him coz he is very dear to me as friend. I cannot be selfish at any point of life, not at least about something or someone i do not own. lately I am hating this trait of mine.
