Haris, it varies from person to person. Maybe the person you are referring to in your first paragraph has no idea how you feel ... maybe she does ... we just don't know. I say you just take the plunge and tell her. Then again, only you know whether that would be the right thing or not. Follow your instincts.
Personally, I don't think it's cheap at all if a guy confesses how he feels ... as long as he's being genuine and it's from the heart. I don't see how it's a disgrace or anything like that cause how a person handles it and behaves plays a huge part. Again, it varies from person to person.

Haris, theres no right answer to your question. It all depends individually on a case by case basis. You’ll know deep down whether you should tell the girl or not. In some cases guys (especially the immature-testosterone driven ones) just lose it and come out with it ruining a perfectly good friendship and making it awkward for all the others involved in your friendship too.
But if you know her well enough from her body language, responses and talking style, you can tell if she has feelings too. A lot of asian girls are crafty and sneeky but you can work it out sooner or later. Its tricky, but thats why women are mysterious and we love 'em for it :love:

Impulse: I think u should just let it go with the flow. If u know he feels the same about u as u do abt him....its a natural thing. I mean ppl sometimes don't mean to fall in love it just happens without u knowing it. Let it happen naturally...the I love u's can come later. U gotta be his friend first and understand his feelings.
One thing is if u r ready to commit to him for the rest of ur life then stick with it...if not, ur wasting ur time and emotions. These emotions and feelings will stick with u for life. If u r really commited and know he is too....talk to ur parents abt it before its too late.

i think Mehnaz has said it well, at the end of the day, whether your conservative, semi modern, half paki…whatever…love is love. sometimes girls are pretty clueless that guys are genuinly interested in them, its very difficult to set the perverts apart from the nice men as the latter are far and few between. Theres nothing “cheap” about genuine feelings whatsoever. Sometimes a confession is needed…honestly theres nothing to be afraid of, just make sure your honest and you dont cheapen yourself, never mind her. Good Luck, and i want a wedding invite too

Haris some people here are rude, ignore them. they dont think twice before making fun of people and hurting others feelings. Just dont pay attention to them at all.
Anyways, as far as the situation you have sketched...you know there are many different types of girls and everyone is different and approaches situations differently.
If she IS semi conservative...which you can probably tell....then I think the thing that 99% of girls look from our society want to see whether the guy is serious or is he just playing around or is he going to marry her?
Telling her you like her must be accompanied directly with a proposal for marriage. This is the most decent and safest way to go about it, that will prove your sincerity to her as well and you should mean it when you say it so don't say it before you are ready and 500% sure about that.
Many guys tell girls they like them without telling their parents or being in a situation to follow up and so it messes up the girl's life. I've seen this happen to some freinds. I hope you won't do this and go about it all responsibly.
And Haris, no matter how conservative a girl is, come on yaar, who doesn't like to be liked and admired? You seem like a decent person, and if the girl likes you as well somewhat even as a person as long as its sincere admiration from your side leading to something decent (marriage) I don't see why the girl will have a problem. She might do initial nakhray hehehehe :D but keep at it. Try for some time.
And dont expect her to go out with u or get very close to u before some sort of formal relationship like engagement or marriage. Most girls would want to keep it kind of aloof till that happens.
Also Haris, think abt it, why should the girl play anything but dumb, on her part she will think maybe she is being khushfehm so her wanting to appear or being ignorant of your feelings is just her being safe I think, which she should be if she is wise and practical :)

yeah, youre right, the fact that it all depends from case to case is what makes it all so tricky for a person. one is never sure and theres no way one can use some sort of probability models from random cases studies :D as everyones diff...
but thats where some generalizations could be followed as a rule for certain type of persons i guess. for eg how it would generally be for a "modern day univ going smart young girl from a semi conservative muslim Pakistani background".

I'm a girl! I dont really care how people get married weather its arranged or love, or whatever. However, I'm the type of girl that likes to make my OWN rules. The kind of girl that wants to find my own guy, doesnt matter who he is, what nationality he is, as long as he is Muslim. I've never dated any guy, and when I got to know a guy really well and fell for him and he had the same feelings for me, I made sure he wanted to marry me, and thats where I'm at now. Engaged to a guy of MY choice. A guy that always gets his ways, someone he thinks like me and is at the same level as I am. I want a guy to tell me he loves me and shows it! I've always wanted to find Majnun and thats what I've found!!
God made everyone different. I'm a different person. I have a crazy side, high temper, romantic side, everything rolled up in one, and thats the kind of guy I like. A rebel in a way. Someone who wont let anything stand in his way.
