Aww, my dadi also told me about the Vicks (or even oil works) to darken the mehndi.

Re: How tortuous was the Mehndi for you?

I had my mehndi done in the morning of my mehndi day. It was pretty exhausting, I made a mistake by using the service of the parlor from where I was getting ready on barat. I could have my menhdi done at home and I'm sure it would come out better than that I had from the parlor after spending so many hours :S

Re: How tortuous was the Mehndi for you?

i got my mehndi done the day of mehndi as well...but since i didn't get a lot of it...it was all fine :)

Re: How tortuous was the Mehndi for you?

i'm not someone that loves getting mehendi done, but i actually enjoyed it because i knew this was the first and last time i was getting my mehendi done and especially on my feet. i was lucky enough to find an amazing artist who made my feet look like i was wearing gladiator sandals and made my hands look like i was wearing jewelry. not a fan of the process, but the results were pretty awesome.

I had fun getting my mehndi done for rabia’s wedding. I was in pakistan for my first time, and was sick of my travel companion and little cousin so being around new girls and relatives was fun. Most importantly being with my cousin rabia and her brothers was a relief I needed some americans in my life  I have never experienced the paki wedding thing and having so many people in one house was very exciting. I will say the mendhi color sucked I had always heard people brag about how good the color is in pakistan compared to cones we get in texas but maybe it was just our luck? I was surprised it was a man doing the designs and had fun getting it applied. Here’s a pic of the bride’s hand plz keep mashallah’s in mind when you check out her bling  and my hands… her mehndi was probably the most fun night and it wasn’t because of dancing either bc no one really prepared or performed anything choreographed. It was just a great party.

Re: How tortuous was the Mehndi for you?

This was what I got done when I went in April. It took 5 in half hours lol.. The color turned out amazing!

Thanks <3

Re: How tortuous was the Mehndi for you?

mehndi is never torturous....

in fact the whole idea of getting married and all these typical rasms is so beautiful

i had to sit for hours but then again its all part of the game :)

Re: How tortuous was the Mehndi for you?

i had my mehndi done the night before my wedding once it was dry i went to sleep and it only took 2 hours

a few pointers for mehndi

*don't wash it off with soap or water
*scrape it off
*apply oil once you've scraped it off
*best colour comes when you stay warm so have a heater near by (especally in the winter)
*can use fresh lemon juice and sugar to dab onto the mehndi once it dries this helps colour development and stops it flaking off as quickly
*it's actually best to get it done with a days gap before the function as it takes time for the colour to develop fully. so if your function is on saturday then get your mehndi done on thursday gives you time for the colour to develop
*wear gloves when shampooing your hair

Re: How tortuous was the Mehndi for you?
