How tortuous was the Mehndi for you?

On your hands.

Sitting there for hours with mehndi all over, is it exhausting?

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

omg, i havnt even been a bride, and i had it dun for my auntys wedding. I only wanted a cute lil pattern on my hand. she wudnt let me go till she did it alllllllllll the way up my arm. ALLLLLLLLLL over my hand. omggggg my arm was DEAD. and it was sooo horrendous sitting there waiting to wash it off :(! i feel sorry for dulhans!

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

Yeah its pretty exhausting. I had mine during the mehndi function itself, so it was more stressful. if u have the option...get it done the day before.

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

not a bride yet, but got it done in dubai in a parlour....OMG it was so pretty but i had to stay there for a while until it dried and then she let us go so we wudnt be smudging it.....but yea i dnt think i have the patience for mehndi.....i dnt want too much on my wedding jst a nice design.....

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

I had such simple mehndi done for my nikkah, I waited till 1 am when everyone was done and the mehndi lady was tired.. lol.. because I didn't want it but my mil was insisting. I had a line of pattern on just the outside of both hands, and I had to take a shower before sleeping so I couldn't bother waiting.. washed it off within half an hour.. the color still came out really nice.

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

well my mehndi was dry within a half hour so i just went along my merry way pretending like i didnt have mehndi on ...thori thori utarti rahi but not completely...it still didnt come off completely until i rubbed it off the next morning and the colour was awesome

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

i lovee mehndi! the woman i got it done from came with her sister the night before the mehndi to put mehndi to all the females' hands in my family and then she came back in the morning for me and my sister. i didnt want her to be tired while doing mine, and i didnt want everyone around me while i was getting mine done either.

so i got it done in the morning, it took a while to get dry and then i just left it on all day long. by night time it had all fallen off by itself. the color came out fine but it was even darker the next day on the wedding.

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

meh just sleep with it on.... and gorgeous color in the morning!

I had it done for my engagement last month..the lady took 3.5 hrs to do my hands.arms and feet..It was pretty exhausting..I cud hardly keep myself from dozing off..after it was done I gave it 30 mins to dry out and went to sleep with it..lol

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

I dnt like mehndi much cuz 1) im impatient 2) it leaves my hands very dry 3) there is no guarantee that the color may turn out to be nice or just fainted!

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

I had a simple design..nothing on my arms..really hate that color that comes on the arm..let it dry a bit then sleep over it if you can.

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

i get it done from the parlor on my mehndi day in the morning. 3 ladies were putting it together so it didnt take lot of time. From there i went too KFC with my cousins :cb:

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

Has anyone ever seen a bride with the devdas style mehndi? Mehndi on the finger tips and a dot in the middle surrounded with a number of smaller dots?

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

LOL! I wouldn't say torturous but sitting straight in one position was indeed uncomfortable. On the other had, it was fun to have everyone trying to feed me everything because I couldn't feed myself. Also, had to take care to offer my prayers before I sat down for the application. I got it done the night before the wedding and slept afterwards so it was nice and dark in the morning. My MIL told me to let it fall naturally and not to wash it off as it was 'armanon ki mehndi' that shouldn't be washed off. :) Sme of it got washed as I had to do wazzu for Fajar but it still came out pretty dark.

My husband was a little put off because the mehndi did not have his name hidden in it but he really liked the whole lot. He also asked me to put on full bridal mehndi for other events that happened after our wedding and made sure that the artist hid his name every time. :) So, I have gone through the process many times and would still like to do it again.

Aww that is soo cute! :) gives me a good idea to offer all my prayers before the mehndi is put on :)

yup one of my friends had that on her wedding and it looked gorgeously cute n simple but you could still tell she had mehndi on..it went really well with her outfit too :)

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

^ yeah my aunty did, and she had that line around her foot too, looked stunning

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

^ I'm think of doing that as well.

Anyone have pictures of that style of mehndi?

i was jst thinkin of namaz, must make sure to have it done at a convenient time...thanks for that mahi......also im definetly gona try have his initials in the mehndi haha it can act as a nice ice breaker!! :)

do most people get mehndi done the night b4 or some days before the event?

Re: How torturous was the Mehndi for you?

so did you ladies have a mehndi pattern picked out ahead of time ?? ... or did the artist kinda wing it??
