Re: how to weight gain and increase my appetite
With Periactin it makes you drowzy too and hungry as it empties out your tummy really soon too.
Try meeting with a nutritionist ...add about 500 calories a day extra and Inshallah you will gain about a pound a week.Try what Knockoout Artist also mentioned.
I guess the rolleye smily made it that way.But seriously I know people who have suffered through such, and it is really hard to pull a person out of such disorders...sometimes it takes years and near death experiences. Our society puts a lot of pressure on women to be a certain figure, look a certain way fro early onwards:(
To clarify, the rolling eyes were sort of a flashback for my sake -- Not pointed at her.
I suffered from anorexia for a year when I was 18. I couldn't quite understand why I was behaving the way I was. Seemingly, I was fine but I lost 32 lbs in 30 days with no physical activity. And the weight just kept dropping. And I was in great shape to begin with -- not like I needed to lose weight. I weighed 130 lbs when anoerxia hit me.
Consulted a doctor, turns out I was depressed with constant stress.
I didn't think much of it but I remember I was praying one afternoon and I sat down and I felt like I had sat down on piercing bones...! I could feel the bones in my hips piercing against the calves of my legs. Still, I didn't know what to do.
Anyway, somehow I survived and that one year passed. I started eating again and gained weight to healthy digits.
Perhaps she is stressed, depressed?
I am so sorry to hear that:hugz:, and I apologize for misunderstanding your post.
Your weight loss sure for very dramatic…a lot! I am glad that you found the strength and the courage to overcome it.
.
But you are right that maybe the thread opener may be depressed and that is why there is loss of appetite.

Re: how to weight gain and increase my appetite
^You need to see a doctor.
is it available here in pakistan.........
its actually not. i had 100 tablets that i took to Pakistan because the doctor prescribed it to me and my cousin wanted to get some and the doc in pak said that the govt made them illegal a few years ago. they arnt imported into the country anymore.
but if you do get your hand on them i advise you not to use it at your age. im 19, i gained like 6 kilos in a month with it .....all around the gut...but i lost it straight after i went off the medicine in a few weeks.
it has side effects at your age as well, the doctor warned me about them but i didn't take my doc srsly...... you will have very deep sleeps... 10+ every night and no alarm can wake you up!
and, after a few months your body just gets immune to the meds, so you wont feel hungry but simply have long sleeps.
ATM, im trying to gain 15 kilos by December as well, my program is without the meds now, and i just eat proper big meals every 2.5 hours. ....so far it has worked, gained 2 kilos in 2 weeks. though, it is early days. GL
Re: how to weight gain and increase my appetite

Re: how to weight gain and increase my appetite
I would recommend Minadex Tonic, it helps to build up an appetite. I have tried it with my four year old (very fussy eater) mashallah it does help to stimulate appetite.

Re: how to weight gain and increase my appetite
mmkaki, I dont know if minadex is available over there...Periactin is tho. Its also known as Ciproheptadine (thats the generic name). I've used this for my son who has issues with being underweight and not wanting to eat and it really does help. It DOES make you tired so if you use it, try to take it in the evening, prior to dinner. Feast out and then off-to-bed. Something to watch out for is that the hunger-response will wear off so we used to use it during the week and not on weekends. Some people can use it for 2 or 3 weeks before its hunger-effects wear off so you just need to watch for that. Also, it has been known to cause very vibrant nightmares in a small number of people who take it. Never happened with my son but tis something you want to watch for. Otherwise, its very effective as an appetite stimulant. I use it usually after he has an illness and has lost weight, otherwise I just use extreme encouragement/reward which may not work in your case lol! I also give him one dose of "benecalorie" each day. This is a "medical food" supplement that you add to oatmeal, mashed potatoes etc and is very high in protein, good fats and calories and does not affect taste or texture. I get this at walgreens online, not sure if it would be available in pak....
I'm very curious about the other things mentioned here - both the minadex and the other otc med (cant recall the name)....but i can get minadex here in the states so plan to try it....something interesting I've read is that some people have a deficiency of copper levels which causes the hunger response to lag behind....will see if this remedy does anything for my son.
I wish you the best...but if all else fails just try to remember - thinner people are healthier people and they are also generally considered to be more attractive people.....so no worries and no stress! EAT and be merry lol!

Where do you get that?
Re: how to weight gain and increase my appetite
mmkaki, that’s the story of my life as well
I am tall and thin but I do have a big appetite. I eat 4 meals a day but my metabolism is so wicked high that I can never put on any weight. I get it from my mom who even after 3 kids looked so thin. She has now gained much more weight and my doctor tells me that’s what most likely will happen to me also. I always get questions like, do you eat food? do you purposely want to look like that? lol I think I have educated almost everyone I know on what metabolism can do for you. Once I asked my physician to give me something that would increase my appetite (as if 4 meals aren’t enough) and he prescribed something but that made me nauseous and very, very sleep. I spent 2 days sleeping after taking the pill for one week! He told me to stop and explained that I am blessed.. lol.. And he’s right, people do everything to lose weight and so many girls have near death experiences just to look skinny. I think the important thing is to be healthy EVEN if you’re bmi is below average. Make sure that you’re not anemic or have any underlying problems.
Re: how to weight gain and increase my appetite
I had a hard time gaining weight my whole life too. I didnt look abnormally thin or anything, but my mother always worried about me being too skinny and every person in the world had comments to give me on how I need to eat more, although I ate more than enough and never dieted a single day in my life, unlike many of the people who would tell me to gain weight. At my mom's insistence, my doctor put me on a special diet to make me gain weight and I gained about 10 pounds in a year and then after a year I stopped that diet and starting eating like regular again and just like that I lost the 10 lbs I gained, without any exercise or anything. At that point I realized that this is just how my body is and thats fine, as long as Im healthy. And then after marriage I gained 10 lbs within a year, the first pounds I gained every since that special diet I was on like 7-8 years ago. So I think some people bodies are just like this, you dont have to worry, unless you are so underweight to the extent that it is dangerous and unhealthy for you. If you are dangerously thin, then see a doctor right away, otherwise I wouldnt bother with all the pills or whatever, just eat healthy and proper all the time. If you are getting married soon, then perhaps this will take care of your problem as there is something about marriage that makes us all gain weight! ;)
