Re: how to weight gain and increase my appetite
mmkaki, I dont know if minadex is available over there...Periactin is tho. Its also known as Ciproheptadine (thats the generic name). I've used this for my son who has issues with being underweight and not wanting to eat and it really does help. It DOES make you tired so if you use it, try to take it in the evening, prior to dinner. Feast out and then off-to-bed. Something to watch out for is that the hunger-response will wear off so we used to use it during the week and not on weekends. Some people can use it for 2 or 3 weeks before its hunger-effects wear off so you just need to watch for that. Also, it has been known to cause very vibrant nightmares in a small number of people who take it. Never happened with my son but tis something you want to watch for. Otherwise, its very effective as an appetite stimulant. I use it usually after he has an illness and has lost weight, otherwise I just use extreme encouragement/reward which may not work in your case lol! I also give him one dose of "benecalorie" each day. This is a "medical food" supplement that you add to oatmeal, mashed potatoes etc and is very high in protein, good fats and calories and does not affect taste or texture. I get this at walgreens online, not sure if it would be available in pak....
I'm very curious about the other things mentioned here - both the minadex and the other otc med (cant recall the name)....but i can get minadex here in the states so plan to try it....something interesting I've read is that some people have a deficiency of copper levels which causes the hunger response to lag behind....will see if this remedy does anything for my son.
I wish you the best...but if all else fails just try to remember - thinner people are healthier people and they are also generally considered to be more attractive people.....so no worries and no stress! EAT and be merry lol!
