CDMA and GSM have been in iphone since version 4. It is the firmware that has to be unlocked even if it is unlocked. I don’t think that you can just take a verizon phone to at&t now can you?

CDMA and GSM since iphone 4S, and yes you can use verizon iphone 5 to att and use the sim card. data speed will be less i think its 4G instead of LTE.
