No…I got a Samsung phone in Feb, (start of 2 year contract), then I upgraded to Galaxy Note in Sept (re-started a 2 year contract) and asked them for the unlock code so I could give the phone to a friend, who is on Verizon. That is when I learned that no unlock code is necessary for Samsungs, unless the earlier phone is to be used on ATT, with a different phone number. I am not under contract for 2 phones, just the one. Maybe they are cool with it because I continue to be under contract for at least one phone. I don’t know.

I thought that it was only the iphoen that uses a SIM in verizon, though that SIM is just for storing some personal phone data (4G LTE through sim?) and is not a GSM SIM unless your in europe. Basically, you can’t convert a GSM phone to a CDMA.
