I tried outlook distribution list with gmail account
it refused to send mail
For this don't use external SMTP servers, most service providers would refuse you that service. Instead install the SMTP service on your local PC and use that to send emails. Also mind you that if your ISP notices unusual activity they may block your connection to the internet.
Some ISP's have daily limits on how many emails you can send. Most of us never cross that threshold so would never find out. A friend of mine routinely sends emails to several distribution lists and claims that his personal DSL account with his ISP limits him to 200 outgoing email messages per day (even if you cc or bcc a message, each address is counted as a separate outgoing email).
There are specialized software that are used to send mass emails. You can Google it. If you are sending emails to your Company's customers, then presumably you will be sending them through your Company's ISP, and business accounts are probably exempt from such email load limits.
Dude, you must not be on a broadband connection and not in the USA. If you have a fast internet connection you can send out over that many emails per minute. And I guess if you don't have broadband, they may not have any restrictions.
